oko, in thge middle of fitting the timing belt.

I have made marking on both top pulley and bottom pulley before i took it off

Now i have got the new belt on, but everytime i try to put tension on the belt, the bottom pulley moves as well ...

Is there some sort of trick to keep the bottom pulley steady ??

Thanks
Ming

If when you tighten the cam guide bearing the marks are off, move the crank pulley to the next tooth and then see. I just pull down on the font of the belt and line it up to the crank one.

Pull down on the belt under the waterpump, get a spanner on the crank bolt, turn the thing anti clockwise a little to locate belt tooth in it and then rotate clockwise to tension belt. Tensioner should go on. Aply some tension to tensioner and tighten up and check timing. If out then repeat earlier procedure by first setting cam then use crank to take up slack. You have to estimate where the crank mark will end up after you move it to tension the belt. I use a camshaft locking tool to take up the slack.

i got it from fluffy .. and not really sure how to tell if it is the correct pitch one.

It's unlikely that Fluffy will have made a mistake (but possible): but he can only go on what you tell him.

To check, you hold it against the pulley of your choice and see if it fits properly. The grooves on the belt must engage with the grooves on the pulley, the belt must lie flat on the pulley, etc.

Surely the arrow is direction of engine rotation: in that case, the engine turns clockwise as seen from the timing side.

Here is a picture comparing the 2 belts, then i go lay the belt against the pully and let you see

Even the goove on the new water pump and old water pump is different ???

IT seems, the pitch on the new belt fits the new water pump, but it does not fit the top and bottom pulley.

I'll go get a picture now!
