Went to Barmouth yesterday, had a lovely day out, BBQ on the beach etc, left it till about 21:30 before heading for home, when, hopefully the roads would be clear. Barmouth to Welshpool everything went fine. After Welshpool changing into 5th the clutch pedal hit the deck.
I immediately thought I'd gone thru another M/C spring, so I got it home using the old truckies crash box method.
Luckily (and this is also a first) I got green lights all the way back.
Today, up with the lid and had a nose.
Fluid level = full. Hmmmm...
No signs of fluid on the carpet or M/C, more Hmmmmm.
Pedal = like a dodo.
Got a few splinters scratchin me hed... wonder if any air as crept in while I wasn't lookin?
Found that beautifully easy to get to bleeder on the bulkhead :bang:
The pipe from the M/C to that bleeder is as rusty as an old nail..... and wet!
OK, so we know it can only be clutch blood right? So why is the fluid level still full? I can only conclude that the rusty pipe gave up the ghost and the fluid getting out let the air in, giving me a pedal that does Jack, but not drawing more fluid from the ressie.
This, I reckon, is going to be an interesting repair.
I wouldn't wish this on anybody, but I'll stick a 'How to do' with pics in the hospital wing, ok

I used glue with bits in it on the outside of the pipe to repair mine.
It was pitted but it was a bit easier to get to.
It has been a while and it seems OK. Maybe something better like epoxy metal or something else can be used but I used Q-bond on mine as I had it on hand.
 
As usual, been bizzy and not had time to fix the Bug.
I have, however, amassed the junk I'm gonna fix it with....

Roll of copper brake pipe and flaring tool.
Various end fittings for the clutch m/c end (not sure which one it needs yet)
Connector between copper pipe and rubber pipe.
1 lt DOT4
Eezibleed kit

There you go, job almost done :rolleyes:

Update:

Well, seeing as how much of a rat arse job it is to do I decided now is the time to collate all the little jobs and sort em all out together.
Went to the stealer and bought the complete pipeline for the clutch, sit down comfortably and take a sedative (I needed one) the price was £182.06
I REALLY considered scrapping it.

But, soft old me, I'm gonna rebuild it.

Jobs to do:
1, Change the clutch pipe
2, Renovate the rear subframe (got new springs and shocks to go on)
3, Complete underspray with petrol/oil mix
4, Respray colour on outside
Sort out the air con.

That should keep me bizzy till dinner time. . .

After a bit of a stall, work is starting on the bug this week. Dunno how long it's gonna take, but my nephew is going to take on the clutch pipe job cos he's got a lift so can get it up and get under for easier access.
The next biggest job is the rear radius arms and those rotten bearings.

Update on the update:

My nephew took on the clutch pipe change job...

I can't write what he said about it, there were too many expletives!

One thing he did say - in very plain English was: DON'T BRING THAT PIECE OF **** BACK HERE!
I think he may have had an interesting time exchanging the pipes?

He did phone me to seek advice re: "how do you bleed this f&@king clutch"

After it was finally done he told me it only took 6hrs - glad I wasn't paying the stealer to do it.

Now to progress onto the other jobs...
