General Thinking of buying a Stilo!

some action going on now,

today i viewed a 1.6 2002 3 door dynamic crystal green here in cardiff, 27K on the clock for £3500, and i must say it was imacculate :yum: , sadly though it didnt have a skyroof but it was soo clean and 'new feeling', i was going to buy it there and then. i managed to hold myself back because tomorrow im off to london to see that jtd that dan linked to on autotrader. it looks tidy, got the skyroof and leather multi steering wheel, but i dont really fancy that connect unit :yuck:

anyways wish me luck everyone, if it isnt the jtd in london, then its the 1.6 in cardiff, i really have had enough of waiting and searching :bang:

anything you guys think i should look out for on the jtd?

ohh, BTW the 1.6 went beep beep beep as soon as i started it. guess what.........

SENSOR FAILURE AND AIRBAG LIGHT :p

i was like, good ol'deckchair will sort that one out (y)

rabbit in the hole!!!! hehe

shes here everyone. yup, i bagged the jtd today from london in 15 minutes. it has a few niggles, and the ohhhh so desireable beep beep beep! i think it says heater element or something similar. i will be doing a new thread with pictures and an explaination of all the problems, so for now the mods can close or delete this thread as its served its purpose.

thank you everyone for your support, i am now one happy bunny (y)

And I'm disapointed you never bought the 1.6  I'm not driving behind you on the way to meets with all that smoke coming out the back and me coughing my heart up  damn oil burners :p

Good luck with the stilo (y) dont forget to lower it and fit the body kit  lol

quick update,

the fault message is preheat failure, and my connect nav has frozen (yup, connect not connect+).

the unit is actually quite good, i thought it would be a pile of ****.
its firmware version 7.1, and the maps are 2001. is there any newer versions of these?

i'll go searching now for em

well it looks like its completey packed up. iv disconnected it and all. it wont eject the cd thats in it (it was a CD-RW, maybe thats why it cocked up?) it spins the cd continuously, but when you press eject......nothing. all the functions work fine untill you press audio then it freezes.

is there like a manual eject procedure so i can take out the cd. iv even taken the unit apart but couldnt 'pull' the cd out.

couple of people told me either glow plugs or heater plugs for cold starting, but nothing major that would affect the car in any way.

so far im loving it even though i keep finding faults that soooo :bang: me

she getting valeted today so expect some pics soon (y)

now the connect is fixed, il be looking into sorting the cold start heater plugs issue.

now im thinking of abarth sideskirts, and tints, and possibly new alloys if the bank is happy.

i have tried searching but i cant find anyone who sell the abarth skirts (for less than £235 anyway). so any help would be fab.

otherwise, i love her to bits :worship:

today i got "your car's a punto right? i thought fiats were punto's, panda's, and that big ugly one with four eyes?"

hehe :D

so which one of their retailers do you recommend me using?

Use john Kiddman [DVK] I found him very helpful and very efficient and he was cheaper than the others for some reason  he will ask you for a small deposit and then the balance when they arrive in from Italy and then you have to send him the balance ..If you want another alternative then have a word with Julian at www.balancemotorsport.co.uk check the price with both and take your pick (y)

shes back from the valet...................dear oh dear oh dear

scratches galore

stone chips on the front and sides, key and parking scratches on the drivers door, a nice deep scratch on the bonnet and one by the rear passenger side light cluster.

i knew some of them were there, but after the valet with the car all shining, theyre sticking out like a sore thumb.

the inner trim by the passenger kick plate is broken (along the door length by your feet), and i didnt know that the door trims chip/flake, and guess what, someones tried to cure it by spraying it black, which came off with the valet.

oh and if i didnt mention it, the rear parcel shelf clips are broken (on the trim itself, not the shelf).

i still love the car to bits, iv waited nearly 2 years for it, but its little things like this that **** you off, and add up to a nice list of expenses.

il post up some pics tomorrow so you guys can give me some pointers as of what to do.

the valet was done at arc carwash, they did it all including the headlining for £70, thats the full works, alloys, polish, interior wash, the lot, and the result is really good, too good infact as it brought up all these defects.

now i know why the car wasnt valeted before i bought it :bang:

Ok, well

Scratches - give the car a good T-cutting. Deep scratches, I'd recommend Farcela G10 but be careful using it!!

Kick plate - just order a new one, piece of p!$$ to fit!

Rear parcel shelf clips - these can be ordered separately, but if the holder is broken, you're probably going to need a new complete unit (again, easy to fit).

Door trims - maybe get them repaired with a plastic surgeon type company? Or just get new ones?

It's not all that bad :)

i know its not all that bad, but its just annoying,

anyways, can i ask you a fav rich, i need the part numbers and possibly the prices for the bits. door trims, kickplate trim, and the parcel shelf clip holder (the complete unit).

also peeps, be on the lookout for a cruise control stalk and a CN+ (y)

rich, the guys at arc carwash said t-cut wont do anything as the scratches are quite deep, so they recommended me a scratch/chip repair place in cardiff, so il see how much they will quote for the job

thanks

OzMoSiS,

As Phil said, those are the part numbers for the clips. They are around 70p each. However, if the trim where the clip goes is broken, you will need a new pillar; these are £14 each, so it's best to check first!

Door trims; need chassis number first to match up the fabric.

Kick Plate: 735295183. Around £20

Cool, lets see what they've got to say about the scratches :).
