I've recently got shot of my little mk2 1.2 16v punto and bought a tidy 03 plate Stilo MW dynamic with the 1.9JTD 115 with 69000 on the clock. She's got her climate control, glass roof etc
It's just had it's cambelt service done which I made damn sure they did it by the way.

  • Is there anything I need to watch out for with this thing? Like nasty sounds from odd places?

  • When would you do the servicing on them? I know the indicator is on there but I tend not to trust what the maker says ref the servicing schedule ;)

  • Any suggestions to improve her? Just chuck any old idea in, I'll listen to it (y)

One thing I have to say though, this thing don't half pull!!

Ta!

Well i service mine er when i feel like it, anywhere between 12,000 and as much as 18,000 miles.
The hole in the roof needs looking after, Cleaning and greasing often and the drain pipes do need cleaning out from time to time. Nice set of alloys look nice on the Mw's.
Things that go wrong, the Egr valve, boost valve and sometimes the maf and map sensors.
They do have the habit of scrubbing off the insides of the front tyres so you need to keep a eye on them, The rear bushes where the back axle joins onto the car go and need pressing in and out but can be done at home, signs are banging from the rear.
Handling isnt the best however they do stick to the road even though they roll.

Overall a great car, comfy, good on fuel cheap to tax and insure.

Enjoy it.

I've seen the guide for greasing the runners. Seems easy enough (y)

Hang on a mo! I've only just got it!! :p

Righto.

Oooh bugger..It's already giving a massive BANG from the rear if I accelerate a bit too soon after getting my front axle over a hump!

That I've noticed. My parents have had a 53 plate 1.6 active aircon since dec 2004. quite how it still goes is a mystery to me considering how my old man hammers it all over the shop!!

Damn right! £200 cheaper for me to tax this than my old punto!

Enjoy it.

Well duh! :D
