i cant see the bit that says they change because they see your headlights

I dont really want to get into the technicalities of how they change.
my question is,why are there lights that change to red as you approach? when there isnt another car on the road. if it is programmed into the lights operating protocols then what is the reasoning?

lazer or heat. pisses me off when people stop miles away from the "wait here sign" at road works flashing their lights like a nutter, when all they have to do is move up so sensor can sense them

Heat? No chance more likely be movement (IR) / radar / laser.

well what ever it is it aint headlights

i dont think there are headlight detecting ones.. there are some radar operated ones..... however it could easily be done with a light sensing diode i guess

okay.so im paying more attention now
approaching a big light controlled junction.
im approaching the mini roundabout thats down the hill from the lights
I see the lights turn to green
i cross the roundabout and approach the lights
they go to red before i reach them
no other cars on any entrance to the junction.
so to reach them on green,i would need to go above the speed limit?

quick question

Can anyone identify this location ? I bought a collection of old watercolours recently and this one has got me stumped. I have tried google images with red sandstone buildings / 21 columns / French / Italian etc etc.

coz theres someone selling a set of 13inch steelies with good tyres on that i want, he said they went right on his mk2 punto but i wanted to double check

Are hedgehogs still in hibernation? I've just discovered on while clearing up debris in the garden. What should I do? I don't want to wake it inane shock kills it but Ive just destroyed what ever was keeping it warm
