I have just bought the code on line except it doesn't work - they gave me code 7879 and 3415 which neither work

It should work OK with a Visteon radio.

If it looses the code each time you switch the radio off, it would suggest that the radio doesn't have a permanent power supply.

I can't think of any other reason for it not to work.
