The Dash Camera Thread (Videos)

If you speed up like a clown especially mounting the kerb
Like that these things will happen,
But like most these vids I'm seeing a lot of hostile angry camera owners looking for faults or trouble,
Why people let things like this annoy them so much I'll never know, cos I
Promise you one day someone will get out of a car and hammer you or worse! I had some road rage and he followed and hounded my wife for weeks, he lost his licence because the police car he didn't see behind my wife witnessed his morning ritual of trying to head on run my wife off the road.
So be careful next time your sounding your horn or shouting at people because they cut in slightly or speeding up so someone can't get in and get stuck . . .

The problem in today's society is that 'we' seem to mollycoddle the idiots, they seem to get the benefit of the doubt while the victims get the grief.

I swear, the number of drivers using their mobiles is on the increase (and harder for the cams to pick up due to tinted glass) whilst the number of mobile officers seems to be on the decrease.

And one of the problems with dangerous driving - it's often the innocent driver - the one who perhaps pulls up to avoid being run off the road - that ends up coming off worse.
And since there are relatively so few dashcams out there - how are you going to prove the prang was not your fault but the fault of the idiot doing dangerous stuff?
And the idiots out there rely on the rest of us actually caring about our cars enough to hit the anchors or move out of their way.
And if it comes to an insurance claim - they lie through their teeth.
In my earlier post where I quoted the highway code, why should people slow down & give the loonies room? If it's not safe for them to overtake then they shouldn't be doing it. You can't make a law about overtaking safely then more or less repeal said law in the next paragraph.

From the highway code
165

You MUST NOT overtake
  • if you would have to cross or straddle double white lines with a solid line nearest to you (but see Rule 129)
  • if you would have to enter an area designed to divide traffic, if it is surrounded by a solid white line
  • the nearest vehicle to a pedestrian crossing, especially when it has stopped to let pedestrians cross
  • if you would have to enter a lane reserved for buses, trams or cycles during its hours of operation
  • after a ‘No Overtaking’ sign and until you pass a sign cancelling the restriction.
    Laws RTA 1988 sect 36, TSRGD regs 10, 22, 23 & 24, ZPPPCRGD reg 24

So, we have all these rules and regulations, not to mention the other laws this muppet disregarded.
However, I suspect plod would only really be interested in one rule from the HC...
168

Being overtaken. If a driver is trying to overtake you, maintain a steady course and speed, slowing down if necessary to let the vehicle pass. Never obstruct drivers who wish to pass. Speeding up or driving unpredictably while someone is overtaking you is dangerous. Drop back to maintain a two-second gap if someone overtakes and pulls into the gap in front of you.

However annoying it is, the TT driver would have been wise not to go tho such extremes and just let the p****s get past. Always best to avoid the incident, but sometimes hard to do at the time I know!

The Saga continues.
My replacement camera appears to be broken after just 2 weeks. The seller wants to see some sample footage; how do I upload it to Youtube so that only I & the seller can see it?

Do I use the Unlisted or Private option?

Hmmm. After uploading the videos to youtube, I can see some footage?! (when played back on computer or on the camera it's a green/yellow or purple blocky mess??) Plus Youtube only see's it as 360p not 1080p... WTF?

I agree, but still an easy mistake for the average driver to make.

Easy mistake? For an idiot maybe, but come on, any driver with an iota of common sense would see the keep clear as they approached.
This idiot was taking the ****.

If this is an exampole of your average driver, no wonder driving standards are going down the crapper.

Even without the 'keep clear' signage, the highway code tells us we should keep junctions etc clear to enable traffic to keep flowing - which negates the need for councils to paint every turning, roundabout etc. (rule 151) Sadly, many simply do not give a toss about anyone else's journey.
