Technical TB On!!

Technical TB On!!

Royal Mail web site states you can send small parcels upto 2kg to Europe for £10.48, doesn't state how small small is tho.

Parcel Force says 3 to 6 day delivery will be £21.30 for 2kg.

I'm basing this on the fact I just weighed the whole throttle assembly with manifold & it comes in at 2.8kgs which I reckon is mostly made up of the manifold.

I have locked into the prices from Denmark…

If you send me lest say 1-6 TB’s the price will be 31 euro for me to send return from Denmark.

The TB’s weight about 0.8 kg apiece

So if you send 1 TB at the time it will cost 151 euro apiece.

If you send 2 TB's it will cost 136 euro apiece.

If you send 6 TB's it will cost 125 euro apiece.

The delivery is 3-4 days from Denmark

Sounds like a plan Dan!

I'll be speaking to Jamie this wkend when he's down as he down this way collecting something for his car.

Even if you don't get one Dan, seeing as my car is off the road until I get my head back from the machine shop, I have 2 throttle bodies that can be used, & he has confirmed that it doesn't matter which one you send 30 or 32mm as they are the same.

Let me know & you can have one of mine for a very reasonable price if you are serious about going the 40mm route.

:yeahthat: wanted to say it earlier, but i am in no way mechanically gifted, is there like a guide or something we could use?

Hi

Really – there is nothing to it… takes about ½ hour to switch the TB’s

When I make a TB here in Denmark I send a guide with the TB-set.

I could translate this guide to English (wonder if I can) and send it return with the TB's you send to me...

I also looked into the prices of sending money to another country. The extra cost for me if I make the transfer from my web-bank is 4 euro, so that can’t be a problem…

You could try using the language tools provided by Google as there is a Danish Google site which I'm sure must have the same tools as the UK site. This is how I order stuff from Germany or Italy.

Or try Babelfish (dot com I think)

Editied to say; 4EUROS is a great rate for transfer but as usual we get shafted in the UK when it comes to the banking system, I'm sure I watched Watchdog a while back showing that in Europe it takes 1-2 hours to transfer money but here in the UK 3 days even tho its only a few quick key strokes away on the PC, but then Little Britain comes to mind, "the computer says no"

are throttle bodies easy to take off and put back on - would i be able to do it

Change the Tb is real easy; the TB is connected to the inlet manifold with 2 HEX bolts that need to be undone.

Then all just swap the pipes over, clip them from the TB that’s on the car and slide them onto the new TB and do up all the clips.

The two pipes connect to the very top of the TB are fuel lines, just take care so that you don't get fuel everywhere when disconnecting these (have a spare rag at hand).

When I did mine I used the std Cinq injector, this is held to the top section of the TB with a clip and screwed. On removal of the injector make sure that you get the tiny little rubber gasket that sits between the bottom of the injector and the metal on the TB. Fitting the injector to the top section of the new TB is the reverse of removing it (I am sure the Haynes covers something on the injector). Oh you also have to disconnect the electrical connect to the injector and reconnect it to the new TB.

When swapping a TB over you could get away with not swapping the top part over as the std cinq TB (30mm) and a Punto TB (32mm) use the same top section. Unclip it from the bottom section and swap all pipes over to the new bottom section and then put the old top section onto the new bottom section. I used a different one as i cleaning it all up and filed/rubbed down a few areas of it.

Remember when fitting a 32mm TB to use the correct spacer between the Inlet manifold and the TB.

Gaz, yes you would be able to do it. Just a thought i am not sure how this would work with a MPI Seicento though.

HTH
