If its loosing Oil - and Misfiring

I'd be saying the HG too
As an Oil Channel Might be Blowing Into a Cylinder
+ Carbons Cylinder = Missfire and Oil is Going somewhere?

What Colour is the Smoke Come out the Back?

Very Dark Grey / Black
Grey
White
or Tinted blue?

ziggy

Theres no smoke coming out the back of the exhaust.
The person before me had a new engine put inside it, so i dont know if the people who put the engine in put enough oil in IDK :bang:

The oil ive put in now hasnt leaked on the path or anything, and ive tested, coil pack / spark plugs and i still get the miss fire.

As is a new engine I would check to see if is wired in properly. Plug in a diagnostic tool can help to check if everything is in its place.

Ive had a diagnostic in, and it was showing 7 fault codes, i cleared them all, and now its showing 4 fault codes.

oxygen sensor 1 in bank 2
oxygen sensor 2 in bank 1
Emissions control valve.
The last one the reader doesnt have a definition for it.

And i pursume the miss fire would cause the first 3 faults ?

I would say the other way around. The first 3 faults cause the miss fire. You need to check the O2 sensors operation. A non working O2 sensor will cause misfire when hot as the engine management will over-fuel. Hopefully is just the O2 sensors and not some problem with the engine wiring that confuses the engine management in throwing bad codes.

hey im slowly re-building my hgt engine after stripping it all out and have come across somthing weird...

when i removed my tappets i only grouped them by inlet and outlet and not in order. Just refitted all of them and one inlet tappet seems to spring inside where it sits onto the valve stem

could this be that it has its own place next to the variator or is it broken?

Not sure about hgt engine but most likely none of the above. The tappets ideally should be put in the order they came out but this is not the cause you are seeing. Most likely the tappet has drained the oil and now may be a bit loose. Hopefully once you start the engine the tappet will fill up with oil and be OK. Expect quite a lot of tappet noise once you start the engine after the rebuild. If everything OK the noise should go away after a few minutes.

ive just stripped my engine down to change the tappet.
Checking things whilst taking them off,

  • Aux belt is ripped.
  • Cam Shell is warped
  • dont think the cam belt has been put on properly
Im going to get new aux belt, cam shell, and a cam kit whilst the engine is stripped down may aswell change the cam / water pump

Wasnt too hard as i imagined. hopefully these problems will sort them selves out once the engine is all rebuilt :)
