Anybody has an idea why and more importantly, how to fix it !
Where should I begin looking?

It was acting a little weird for a bit at times, dropping all the way down but it would come back but now it's gone, it looks like.

Hi, this does happen. I have 2 sets of dials. I assumed that there was something clogging it up or some missing/broken solder as this is often the case.

I found nothing and replaced the dials for a cleaner set. The mileage still does not turn. I now think that the cable is at fault and am going to take it to the garage soon.

99% it is the cluster itself.
You can try resoldering the points on the inside because they tend to crack.

I've fixed a few with this mod, but not all are salvageble.

Okay, thanks guys, so if it's not fixable, can you just buy the tach, or does the whole cluster need to be replaced, it started working again, so it must be a loose and broken connection.

My speedo plays up in hot weather when the sun shines directly on the dash. The rest of the time, it's fine!
