Hello,

My car is a Fiat Stilo 1.4 16V from 2004.

At first the issue was intermittent but for a couple of months it's continuous.

Behaviour: The cabin ventilation is working only when the switch is on position 4 and not working when on position 1, 2 or 3.

Waiting for your suggestions.

Has anyone experienced such an issue ?

Regards,
Chris

I have a 03 reg fiat stilo estate and I have the same problem. Can you please post how to change the switch and resistor to make the ventilation to work? Where can I buy them?

Thanks

P.

If you have the dial type controls the resistor pack is locted on the blower fan , if you have the climate control type with lcd display then you do not have resistor pack on the blower and change of complete blower would be required.
For both types the blower fan for right hand drive (uk) is located down behind footwell cover by clutch pedal and although an awkward job is possible to access and remove the blower fan..I replaced my blower fan when it would only function at low speed and have the climate control type so that does not have resistor pack.
If your seeking resistor pack something like below is the item.

Image of location of resistor pack in this thread post number 2..maybe total removal of blower not required have to hear from someone that has changed theirs

thanks! I have the dial type controls (so no computer) I will have a look if I can find the location and I will measure the resistance at number 9. I was helped also by the youtube video named "Fiat Punto heating not working - Heating Resistor Issue" (can't post a link yet sorry). However in the punto the access point is under the glove box whereas in the stilo I understand is on the driver side correct?
Regarding the item you posted I see it comes with a plug (male) and socket (female) where some some wires are attached. I assume I have to change only the pack with the male plug (hence no wiring required) rather than do some wiring on the female socket right?

In case I should do some wiring should I disconnect the car battery?

Hi I had a close look at the ventilation block and I came up with few questions.
Here is the album of the pictures I took http://imgur.com/a/oQ8XZ

now the questions:

1) in picture 1 that is the correct orientation of the ventilation block? i.e. the air oulet of piece #4 is toward the gear. To prove my theory in picture 3 on the extreme right you see a piece of the thermal resistor that should be part #10

2) in picture 4 & 5 there is an orange socket that I couldn't identify. My suspicion is that is the socket of the resistor pack and the resistor pack itself is totally missing from my car since I never touch it or remove it to take pictures

3) OFFTOPIC: I saw under the passenger sit that plug (last picture) that is not connected to anything. what is that?

Thanks again

Paolo

plus on the first pin on the right on that orange socket there are some signs of burning...maybe that's where the pack is plugged and got burnt.
'should I change the socket too?

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!

I appreciate the fact that since I didn't have any help I sorted out myself however if it can help for future reference I will post a small walk through:

1) that orange socket is indeed the one attached to the resistor pack (see my previous post for image gallery)

2) on picture 5 that plug is the one that should be in the socket, it was disconnected I guess previous owner blew the resistor and didn't bother to change it just disconnect it to avoid some warning or something

3) from last 2 pictures you can see that the shortcut has burnt the plastic of the plug and part of the wire insulation so I had to change that plug

4) I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY and I cut the old plug off and I connected the new plug I got with the new resistor pack using block connectors

Job done! it is in an awful position so it was hard to unscrew the pack, strip the wire and put the block connectors but now speed 1 2 and 3 are working (practically the resistors pack are used to slow down the blower speed that's why speed 4 was still working cause it is the blower unrestricted speed i.e. the resistors and not used/needed)

Cheers

Paolo
