The new Subaru BRZ and the Toyota GT86.. If you havent seen them yet, they are Identical Cars..

Both companies worked together to design both cars, with Toyota giving engine technology to Subaru and Subaru helping design Toyotas Car..

They are strangley both loosely based on the Lexus LFA, which is built by Toyata aswell...

See if you can spot the differences...

And people call Porsche lazy :bang:

The fun bit with this image is.. The front is Subaru and the rear is Toyota..

What are peoples opinions and which would you have?? Is this cost cutting too much by the companies..

I'll wait till Cosworth no doubt do up the Subaru :yum:

Geeze, at least when GM and FIAT came together the cars looked different, hell even the Aygo/C1/107 look different for the most part - pure laziness, they don't even look that different to the LFA in my opinion. Sure, use the underpinnings because the LFA is a good platform, but at least put a Toyota/Subaru spin on it.

I can see differences between the two espeically at the front, they are subtle though - the headlights are different, the front grilles are different to accomate different number plate recesses and sizes, the toyota has indicators above the fogs the scoob doesnt, the scoob has a little air vent thing near the front windscreen which the toyota doesnt

If you think thats lazy look at the first models models of the Ford Galaxy VW Sharan and Seat Alhambra, now that was lazy

I reckon the toyota will be the cheaper of the two but i bet subaru extract more power from the engine

You would think... But the engine is designed and developed by both companies in the same factory.. Its a joint venture if one company does one thing the other will do the same.

So far Subaru are the only one saying that they are releasing a 4WD Racing version and a road going STi version at some point.. Apparently 240bhp and weighing 1,020kg compared to 200bhp at 1240kg..

Offical Specs and Price. from Subaru and toyota...

Oh dear a preverbial clanger dropped by toyota then

Pitching it at the same price as the subaru and with toyotas well documented recall record in the last 18 -24 months on various models which would you rather buy?

In fact never mind the recall record just the badge alone is enough to sway people to the scoob i reckon, especially petrol heads

I was looking at this last night I would love going back and forth to toyota and subaru dealers comparing the two. I reckon you could get a pretty good deal making the two compete for your sale.

I saw this in the top gear magasine today! I really like the style, maybe its a bit out of line for scooby, but they look stunning.
Car companies working together is quite common, just look at the Pug 107, Toyota Aygo and Citroen C1. All exactly the same car (pretty much)
