Yep, but thats the same for all DPFs. Most French diesels, and certainly the 1.9 volvo uses a 'special' oil injected into the exhaust before the DPF which burns away the soot on the walls of the honeycomb.
The Fiat method is to inject diesel on the exhaust stroke which burns in the exhaust manifold raising the DPF temp high enough to burn away the soot. The advantages including that diesel doesn't currently cost around £100 for 2 litres.
