Well just had a new ticket on my panda just had to fit 2 new front discs and pads, rusty surprise 😆
Which I knew it would need if I'm honest, but why do I always get bloody MOT anxiety spent near on 2 days fretting about usually I don't give a s#@t about anything anyone else suffer this phenomenon stupid really

To reduce anxiety...

a) fix the obvious problems
b) take it in early, one month minus one day
c) If you get an unfair MOT take it to another garage
That doesnt work any more they may fail it and then its off the road. It happened to me I was furious as I wanted the time to do any repairs required. Take it for a pre MOT a month early, but you then pay twice! You have to be really firm with your gargae and say PRE MOT and maybe with luck agree if it passes to test straight away. My man ran his MOT system and failed the car. The system now requires to be started and things done in a set order and to a time span. They cant pre test and then test as one operation. Makes a pre MOT difficult,

As I understand it, a car can fail an MOT and you can still drive on the previous MOT until that runs out.

The proviso is that the car mustn't fail the MOT and be classed as dangerous to drive.

You're entitled to a free re-test within 10 days, but at £40-50, an MOT fee isn't the problem.

Bloody computers messing things up again!

I used to suffer considerable anxiety that it would fail on something I knew it should pass on and then there was the unpleasantness of the arguments. Now I have several small garages in my area which I trust completely and know that if they fail the vehicle on something it definitely deserves to fail. I look on the MOT as a backup pair of eyes "Quality Control" on the work I've done.

Ive had 3 fails that stand out. My Laguna at 5 years old failed on drop links and again at 6 years. The Seat failed on broken spring. I jumped about and insisted on being shown.... Drop links after 1 year! I dont use ECP parts now they ate not cheap, just priced for what they are. Seat spring was broken of course. Like you I have 2 places I trust and am glad if they see anything I miss. Years ago, it wasn't anxiety but terror.
