hey guys
I installed a fli trap 12inch enclosure about a month ago and everything has been working fine until yesterday. There was a few popping sounds then it cut out. I checked the fuse which is fine and the power light comes on with the ignition, you can also hear the sub gets power when the ignition is turned on but no sound when the music plays. I checked everything was connected properly which all seemed fine. The only noticeable movement in the sub was when I turned the bass up all the way on the head unit equaliser, and all the dials up on the amp where there was some movement in the sub but only to the touch.

What could be the problem?

yeah i checked everything and everything is connected using the proper connectors, I had to use a line out converter which is connected to the rear speaker cables could that be the problem?

im guessing your using the standard head unit without RCA cables then

could well be that then seems the most likely cause

im sure people with much better knowledge then me will come along sooner or later and shed more light on the problem :)

Nah they have used a line converter which converts the output to rca, sounds like the speaker has blown.

Definaly sounds like youve blown the speaker mate, could take the speaker out & check the + & - leads havent fallen off the speaker.

I checked the connections on the speaker and they were a little loose so i fastened them back on properly and still nothing. should i try another sub and see what happens? the only thing is I dont want to buy another sub if its the amp thats the problem?

Hmm yes, good point, do you have an amp in between the headunit and the FLi Trap ?

Edit: Scrub that, the RCA connections should just plug straight in so unless you've made a right mess ... ;)
Nah he wouldn't , I don't think there would be a problem with the amp because its lighting up & sounds generally like the speaker has blown.

The only amp is the one on the enclosure which the rca's plug straight into from the line out converter

built in cross overs could be ****ed and its trying to send highs to the sub

im not sure exactly how actives work though

im probably way of the mark anyway

If you know someone with any kind of RCA direct from their headunit, see if the thing works plugging it in directly. If it does it's your wiring, if it doesn't it's the speaker.
Hell, if you fancy a drive through to Huddersfield I'd take a look at it for you :)
