stupid question - brake fluid/steering fluid

i need to top up my steering fluid reservoir - i have loads of brake fluid and no power steering fluid . At the risk of complete humiliation are these interchangeable ( surely they are both hydraulic fluid??)

stands back and waits for the abuse .................
