Hello there from a newbie in Bournemouth, UK! I've just got myself a 2008 Dynamic Eco and loving it so far. However, I've noticed that someone put bubble wrap fixed with duct tape or something over an item in the engine bay next to the battery (obviously years ago as the tape is now disintegrating).

I've literally only had the car 2 days and haven't got my head round what does what yet. Please can someone tell me what this may be bodging and if it's relatively 'safe'? I've never seen bubble wrap in an engine before. Perhaps it's trying to keep something dry/insulated? Is there a cover missing? As with many older cars I think the previous owner skimped a bit!

Thanks :)

yes its the engine ECU wiring and connectors

1.1 by any chance ??

There no cover. Its been added to fix a fault. Best leave it alone at the moment.

Thanks - it looks like electric plugs etc going into it so must be the ECU as you say. The car drives fine so I'll leave it for now!

It's a 1.2 :)

the HT leads look fairly grubby. Wonder if they been arcing ??

missing the cover over the battery positive terminal. Loads are missing this.

stops the battery shorting if the bonnet gets damaged in an accident. So a slight safety issue

looks like a brand new battery. They haven't taken the cover off which I assume is over the vent covers.

Can just see the bottom of one of the chassis rails. This looks to be in Good nick (y) seen surface rust here on a few panda so things are looking Good (y)

Thanks! I'm very happy with it so far! Please could you direct me to the right cover for the battery + terminal? I've looked on Ebay but none look like they might fit as it looks like it has multiple things coming out of it.

And should I remove the yellow cover/tab thing on the battery? The previous owner had it fitted before I got it. I think it says I'm supposed to! :D

I think 46835554 type will fit that battery

Small local breakers is handy for that sort of thing

virtually any fiat of the same era will fit. And you can test before you buy.

Yes

if it says remove its usually a good idea to remove.
