Hi

Has anyone fitted the original Stilo Side Skirts to their car?

Want I want to know is do the bolt on or glue on?

Cheers.

I looked into getting some recently, a local dealer said he could supply them for £130, or £300 fitted and painted[:0]

I'm sure he mentioned they are stick on tho...

I was goin to get them, and have them fitted while my car is being repaired, cos it would have cost next to nowt that way, but the nice people at directline won't let me[:(!]

I think I'll go for your idea of an Ambipur Air Freshner, I'm sure thats one mod I will be allowed[xx(]

Why won't those nice people let you?

To be honest, I've recently fitted a spoiler and didn't tell the insurance people, and nor will I tell them when I put the skirts on.

Mods should only effect your insurance if they are performance enhancing, bugger me, they'll stop you putting on go-faster stripes soon, or as in my case S & H stripes!:D

normally after market side skirts are glue and screw on.

if the side skirts wrap around into the arches and underneath of the car, you can most probs get away with just screwing them on, like I have on my sei

Remind me not to drive anywhere near you, seeing as your insurance is void! Why do you even bother paying for it if you invalidate it by lying on the policy! Trust me it won't affect your premiums if you tell the truth and go with a decent company.

I've got bucket seats and a few exterior mods on my Mini and a stage 1 kit and my premium is unaffected when i insure with a decent firm (such as Lancaster Insurance). ;)

2003 3 Door Stilo 1.2 Active, Sassy Grey, 5 disc CD Changer, plastic wheel trims - and 41.7mpg average so far. Love it, Oh yes!

TC, Directline don't let anyone under 25 insure a modded car, apparantly.

My Dad said I should just put them on, basically for the reasons you said, but Stiloboy is right in saying it invalidates your insurance.

What is and isn't class as a mod is a slightly contentious issue, but generally sideskirts, spoilers etc, enchance the appearance and appeal of your car making it more of a proposition to some some thieving toerag[}:)]

Next year, hopefully I will have a some more NCD (fingers crossed) and I will be a little older, so I may try to insure through a company who will let me do a few small mods, or if funds allow I may change to the yet to be released JTD140!:p

I'd quite like to get some sideskirts for my Stilo

- but having spent most of my life scoffing at low powered cars that get done up to "look fast", would I be considered a hypocrit[?]B)

Side skirts are about styling, not going fast!

When off-factory they are fitted with plastic clips into holes on the body panel.
When you order them later (like I did) you can glue them.
(check my pics in `new front grille` post)

True TC, but having said that, sideskirts were originally invented to increase downforce in high performance cars, so in that respect they're point of existence is to aid fast cars ;)

Give TC a brake ... he just fitted his rear spoiler ... so sideskirts will be planned from his next paycheck. right :)?

I saw a new series 2 active sport at the dealer on Monday. It looked the biz in the new metalic blue colour. The side skirts were dead sexy, as were the new alloys. The service manager said I could easily get them fitted and would be in touch with a price. I'll keep you posted.

Yeah, I've seen it, it has a body kit as standard and 17 inch alloys as standard too! Bastards, how can they spec up a car like that in just seven months?[:(!]

Yeah the active sport seems to really live upto its 'sport' tag now, in looks anyway!

I'm just waiting to see what they do with the new JTD140, it'd be nice to see it with an Abarth badge...

Oh does anyone know if the dynamic has 17's now[?]
