At the risk of trolling, I'll keep this short.

Horn stopped working

FIAT dealer wanted £53 for new horn (Part only)

Can they justify this? When the original one only lasted 4 years?

Yep, thanks.

I ended up getting a Ring one from Halfords for about £14. I was just astonished that they are charging that much at the dealers.

Could you please tell me where the horn is located on the stilo? Mine has packed up as well and i cant find it to check or replace it. I have checked the ePER link and its rough drawn diagram of where the horn is, and i looked in that area for about 20 minutes, around and under what ever i could - Still couldn't find it.

Its located at the driver's side grill in the bumper. This for a 3 door, not sure about a 5 door.

Once removing the grill there is quite good access to the mount. I bought a RING horn from Halfords and took the connector off the old one so I didn't have to butcher any of the car's wires.

Its the small grill under the light unit. It pops out through the front of the bumper with 3 clips on the top and 3 pegs on the bottom. If you use a flat head screwdriver to loosen the top row, then tilt it towards you while jiggling the whole black grill should come off.

is it the thin black strip that has the un-clip flap for the screw-in towing eye then?

Hopefully the weather will clear up soon and i can get out there again and get a better look at things.

The grille HWJTD is referring to can be seen in his signature picture. (well, the one on the opposite side can)

I think only the JTDs have the grille under the bumper as an air inlet for the intercooler.

You can get to the horn by removing the driver's side (for RHD car) wheel arch liner.

Waters Retail (Fiat Autoplanet Southampton) quoted me £93 for a new horn unit, fitting and VAT after telling me the horn was broken. Now I've read this thread and spend about 10 seconds removing the little grille in the bumper (no screwdriver required!), I've realised the access to the horn is perfect, so will be making a trip to Halfords soon! Fiat can go whistle for the price they quoted!

Thanks for the help!

Just wanted to add to this - horn was broken in 1.8 Sporting, FIAT prices are insane so followed the instructions here, bought a silver horn thing from Halfords and it worked fine. First checked the fuse and that the relay was clicking when the horn was pressed, to minimize the chance of an unnecessary DIY job!

Had to cut the connector off and use spades to hook the wires up to the connection on the new horn though, couldn't work out how you'd managed to do it without butchering the connection HWJTD? Kept the connector just in case but I guess it doesn't matter, working horn better than non-working horn!

The other slight difficulty is bolting it back, as the sizes are different. Ended up bolting the metal plate that came with the new horn to the old one with the right sized thread & nut, as the hole is too small (or the thread too big on the Halfords one). Aside from drilling a bigger hole, not sure how else to attach it (any ideas?) but it'll do, seems secure! Only spent about £17, so hope that might help someone..

If you're around HWJTD, what did you mean by what I've highlighted in bold please? Or anyone else know?
