But I cant quite put my finger on what.

When in traffic, sometime its getting a bit jumpy, like it over fuels then under fuels- or to put another way- Kangaroo petrol.

Then other times it doesnt.

Then sometimes when you come off the power, the car feels like its holding itself back.

then it doesnt.

Im in two minds at the moment as to whether its fooked or its just me being para (been working a lot l8ly-hence low activity on forum).

Whats making me think like this is a mate said it doesnt seem to be running well when they were in it with me- and my dad said it sounded rough.

It was serviced in sept and it was running fine up until then, everything appears ok. The only things that have been change are filter and spark plugs. could it be possible they put the wrong plugs in or they have fooked summat?

With symptoms as vague as that then I would say that you might have a problem but then again you might not :)

Wait until the morning, it'll either be fine or if your dash board looks like Tokyo at night then you'll know your hunch was right:cool:

Wrong plugs (or wrongly gapped plugs), dirty fuel filter, dodgy connection on one of the plug leads etc... Clutching at straws really without seeing/hearing it but when it's as infrequent as you say it is, it's hard to let someone else experience it.

If costing you £6.00 is the worst that will happen its worth a try, I remember Mike Norton saying it worked for him

I'll have to give it a whirl.

It worked in my Ibiza.

Also been thinking, its a while since i filled up with proper stuff- i.e been using supermarket fuel.

My ibiza had a few problems (for instance, go into a round-about, change down to third, then have no power, change to 2nd, and have the same missing power, then all of sudden- Kablam, your off!)and it sorted it out.

That used to get on my tits, plus a problem of it starting then cutting out so got one of those mobile tuners to take a look. Turned out the power problems were caused by being a monotronic(?-only one) fuel injector, and they get cacked up pretty easy with supermarket fuel.(thats what he said)

Maybe thats what it is with the Stilo- time for a bit of tiger in the tank and a bottle of redex. Shame I cant afford to run the bugger dry!

Actually the journey home was quite interesting, the car was at normal temp when I hit traffic, had been running for 10 minutes, then started its tricks.

Because of said traffic I then got on the motorway and cruised at 70-80 all the way home (about 20 miles), I then hit traffic near my house and it was ok.

Bloody confusing.

If it was fine before the service and not afterwards and they put new plugs in then I'd check the plug leads for arcing. The 1.2 plug leads go very near to engine earth parts and a plug lead with insulation breaking down is not so easy to spot.

Start it up in the dark and you might see one lead arcing to earth but sparks tend to take the easy way out only when the engine is under load. With engine off, just disconnect each lead one at a time from both ends and reconnect them and move the leads a little to a different position well away from engine parts and see if it makes a difference.

Might be worth changing them if they've been on a while as they're only £30 from Fiat dealers

Of course, once you get a couple of misfires the fuel goes down the exhaust and the O2 sensor has a fit and all the tuning goes all over the place.

Next time you start up things are fine until........

Move or change the plug leads, worked for my 1.2
