Hello everyone,
I would appreciate if you can write down something on the topic, advantages and disadvantages, comparison between those two models, which one is more reliable etc..
Thanks in advance.

Hello again , thanks everyone for answering to my topic, I know some time has passed since I set this topic. I shall try briefly to write couple of sentences regarding comments above.
I think that petrol engines are more convenient for cars and diesel engines are more convenient for "working machines" like trucks because they are more robust (but that is mine opinion and it does not mean that I am right). In past years I drove FIAT models, the 128 and the Tempra and I was very satisfied with them and I would like to continue with this tradition of driving FIAT cars. Of course, there where a lot of problems with both models, especially with spark plugs and light bulbs that were turning on and off randomly ... mechanic told me that the only problem is with electrical installations so that is the only thing that I blame on FIAT, poor quality of parts but in general, great cars.
Given the choice I think the 1.8 engine is a newer design and seems to have less issues with the ignition and ECU electrics, etc. but that might only be because there were lots more 1.6s sold, so more owners to report any problems.
I would look for a 1.6 and a 1.8 and then buy the best one you can find, regardless of the engine size. Stilo is pretty good once you sorted out the minor niggles.
