Have been reading with interest the postings from those who have had "airbag failure" warnings. The annoying bleeping and "Stop engine" messages keep coming. This has all happened since I switched off the airbag to fit a child seat in the front. I've tried turning the airbag off and on again, to no avail. Still, the car functioned until...

Yesterday, when the wife started it up and it stalled. When she went to start it again it had died completely. Nothing, nada! The young bloke who arrived spent ages looing at the starter motor and then the timing belt. As far as he could make out (without completely removing the cover), the timing belt was still intact. His thoughts on leaving were that the timing belt could have jumped causing the engine to seize. Very expensive!!!

Anyway, got towed 150 miles back home, with the family in a recovery vehicle, got the car to the garage (at night, by this time), got it off the truck, tipped the driver, and got in just to make sure that everything was OK before going home. Just for a laugh i thought I'd give it another try. Started first time! Fine since1

Whats that all about? Will it happen again when the wife's in the car with the kids. Can anyone advise? I'm told that to run diagnostics, I have to go to a Fiat dealer. There are 2 where i live, but they're both notoriously bad. I want to be informed before I let them keep my car for two weeks and charge me lots to re-connect a few wires under the seat!

Yes come on down to us I am sure we can help you airbag lights are a common problem and the issue is well documented :)

true, its all in the stilo section I had exactly the same problem apart from the stalling.... I cured mine by fiddling under the seat with the wires...
