Technical Starter motor trouble

So Friday morning van wouldn’t start just a fast clicking sound and wouldn’t turn over, bump started it drove around block parked up and knocked engine off, tried to restart it and just two clicks and nothing else, took it to a garage and he’s just informed he’s tried two different starter motors and all he’s getting is the clicks and won’t start, is there anything I could suggest him trying before a third starter motor gets fitted and tried?? Two starter motors? Never go back to them again. It will be a bad earth, main cable from chassis to block or battery to chassis. Less likely a bad live connection to the starter relay. As the start relay clicks the heavy start current is not sustained by a poor connection. Cant believe a garage can still get away with anything else to repair this, especially twice.
