Hi
I finally got my 1242 in the engine stand today:D
I`ve taken off all the ancillaries etc,When i removed the cylinder head i was really suprised,I shone a torch down the bores and i could still see all the honing marks,Is this usual on a 70,000 mile fire?
Or does it mean it`s had a rebuild recently?
Either way i`m chuffed just got to get a dial gauge down all of the bores to check they are true
Cheers
Adrian

All the ones I've had to bits still have all the cross-hatching marks on, the bores don't seem to get much wear, if any.

was the alternator on it? if not you will need to change the pulley as well, the auto has a different one for the pas and the belt wont line up with cinq alternator
