ok, I have my new Stilo, so here come the questions!

this one is with regards the "auto on" function of the stereo. When I put the key into the ignition, and turn one, the stereo turns on. If i turn the stereo off, then start the car, the stereo turns on. I have read the manual, and it says to press buttons 15 or 6, which are the rwnd and ffwd keys....so...when i press these, it rewinds or fastforwards, and doesnt do any menu changing...what am I missing? I cant see anywhere in the manual that tells me how to activate this menu action..help!! basically, i dont want the stereo to turn on itself at all....i am the master....not it.

im almost certain any standard radios in stilo's cannot fast forward or rewind tracks.

be it the casset, CD or connect nav (+) they all lack that function.

If the << or >> buttons are not stepping through the menu, then I suspect you're not in the menu. To enter the menu press the menu button for less than 1 second for the 1st level menu, or for more than 2 seconds for the 2nd level menu.

I don't understand.....mine has ffd and rwnd buttons, which do what you would expect. Anyway, I'm talking about the auto on function....following the manual it doesn't do what it should unless my CD player is different to that in the manual, but it sure looks the same.....

Really?? I find that amazing....why on earth would they design a stereo that turns itself on every time you put the key in and turn once?... I've never known a car do that...very odd!!

i've known many cars to do that, Ford Focus is the same, my Mk3 Golf was the same (until i re-wired it), saxo's, toyota's, they all turn on with the ignition and off when the ignition is turned off

i cant believe that!! then again, this is the first "modern" car ive owned. Not one of my previous cars (all 90's) did this, then again, they were all aftermarket stereos. strange, but ill pay more attention now when getting into works cars, I just never noticed this before!!

i just dont understand why....such an odd design idea.

Press and hold the menu button, then scroll through the options until you see auto on, then turn wheel to on/off

I believe it should be possible to turn on and off the "auto on/off" function on the CD version as well, as I remember finding a setting for this on my Stilo a few years ago.

What's missing is the option to have the car remember whether the radio/CD was switched on when the ignition was turned off, and restore this setting the next time the ignition is turned on. A VW Golf I sometimes drive does this, and I wish my Stilo could have done the same. Instead, the Stilo only offers auto on/auto off, or manual on/manual off.

My factory CD unit doesn't switch on automatically when the engine's started. I have to press the button.

It stays on after I switch the engine off, which from time to time has made me more than a little paranoid about whether it'll switch itself off.

i will update tomorrow when i've got the battery connected back onto my stilo, i've near enough just finished changing the brake servo,

right, this is what I got...
