General Speedo Accuracy

How accurate is the speedo on the Fiat 500? Has anyone checked it against a reliable clock or GPS? In the old days, "Autocar" used to publish figures for accuracy in their road tests, but I don't see them anymore.

Yes I have, mine is reading 70mph at a GPS varified 66mph.

doesn't cloud cover have a lot to do with the accuracy of a gps based system i would think they are far more accurate than the cars speedo,

Garmin C510, with speed cameras yes

How did you guess?

Seem to be very acurate, my Garmin and Roadangel read exactly the same.

Providing you're travelling on a flat road in a straight direction, GPS speed is far more accurate than you'll ever need.

All cars have to be by law I think, for the reason of preventing unreading resulting in you speeding.

Correct.

The US based GPS system is not as accurate as they would like us to believe.

The Galileo (European) navigation system will be far more precise if the US, who don't like it, allow it to get off the ground.
