speaker wire??

hi,

im soon going to be fitting a alpine 4 x 60 watt cd player, and i think i might need to upgrade from the standard fiat stuff (punto mk1 standard fitment wire), will i? if so what kind do i need to buy? and how much will it cost? (ebay prices) thanks for any help, beau.

i think car wiring is like the home cinema stuff, the cable they give you is no better than bell wiring, i went to maplins, spent about 70p a metre not the best quality, but handles the job far better

Well if you want to go OTT, 12awg speaker cable £1 a meter on ebay. Should do the job just fine 16awg would me more than enough im sure though

For the kind of power you going to be running, standard wire will be fine from the HU.

If your thinking about running and Amp and Speakers, and a Sub, then depending on what power your running then thats where you need to upgrade cable.

I would worry about the Earth from Batt to Ground, and the live to the alternator, as they should be upgraded first before you think about runnin new cabled for Head unit.

IMPE, Ive ran 2 12" 1000W Subs, 2 amps, 4 6x9's and a few neons, all one a standard amp wiring kit, and sounded amazing.

Only think about upgrading wires etc if your thinking of running decent equipement with decent power.

well i bought some speaker wire, i bought some fusion super sx ofc 12awg speaker cable, 12ft of it for £6 + 3.50 postage, looks quite good, i probably didnt need that good of wire but o well
