I recently had some work done on the car (clutch replaced) and the electrics seem to have been reset. Since then the radio needed decoding, which I have done (about a hundred times now!).
Once I have put the code it starts to search for stations, and I can reset the time - fine. After a few more seconds the whole sound system freezes and turns itself off and needs decoding again. Whilst in this state the green panel switches itself on and off as it pleases. It mainly chooses to stay on at night, and whilst I'm at work, thus draining the battery.
Does anyone have a solution to my problem, other than installing a new stereo?!
I have already tried removing the fuse for the sound system as a temporary measure, but rather inconveniently the same fuse also controls the central locking!

Another one?!

I have no idea why but we have had a spate of these over the last 2 weeks. I've not heard of this problem until this winter. The problem is the head unit - and not the car wiring. Replacing the head unit seems to solve the problem. Valeen (2.4 JTD Marea owner) has the same problem and may be having his head (unit :p) looked at by a specialist. If he finds out what's going on maybe there is hope for us all.

wow this is getting pandemic now.

like i always say, standard stereos aren't worth keeping, get a nice pioneer cd player stuck in and you'll feel so much better about life. :D
