Hello! Yesterday I purchased an used fiat bravo with 1.2 engine, year 2000. Previous owner said had no major issues with the car. It has been sitting for a while, inspection was done at 2/2024 and passed no problem. Car has not been driven since february. I drove the car home, everything working great. Third time I started it, I get nothing. Previous owner said that the battery was changed under a year ago. Maybe battery problem? Then I was thinking about could it be the key? I read that bravo cars have had key issues not registering with the electronics. I get the code sign when I put ignition on, then it vanishes after few seconds, so maybe it's not that.

So I decided to charge the battery at home. After recharging and putting it in the car, I bought a voltage reader and it read 12.56 volts. When running, it reads 14.29 volts. Then I shut off the engine and started the car, NOTHING! Took another reading with the reader, it read 11.6 volts. Shouldn't the car still start or what is going on?

I'm by no means a car expert, but I try to answer the best I can.
When I turn the key all the way, I pretty much get nothing. I could hear some small sound like it's trying to start, but not much.

I just tested it again, won't start. Now I tried to ignite it longer, I did hear cranking noise maybe every 3 seconds, so very slow. No clicking sounds. Also I noticed earlier the radio resetted time. I checked the headlights too, they are dim.

If it was an old battery that you’ve recharged my guess would be the battery has died. Can you try it with jump leads off another running vehicle?

I could ask my friend to jump start my car, but if the same thing happens again? I turn off the car, then it won't start.
Should I just go buy a new battery, or could it be something else?

If it was registering 14+ volts when running then your alternator is fine. If it starts fine on jump leads then my guess would be that the battery needs replacing
