Ok. Happy story.

On Sunday August 2nd, 10 of us from all over the country attended my little Multipla meet called a 'Sandwich Short Of A Picnic.'
It was held on the Historic Sandwich Guildhall Forecourt and the day started with arrivals at 10am and a gathering and display of our Multi's for the general public. We had free tea and buns served all day from our gazebo and had information on the Multipla displayed as well as info on our chosen charity and Sandwich town itself.
At 1200hrs we then had a tour of the historic Guildhall itself which lasted about an hour and raised £60 for the Mayor of Sandwich's charity fund. We saw everything from a mace dating from 1435 to an Elizabethan courthouse that was still in service as a magistrates court until 1987.
At about 1.00pm we gathered again on the forecourt for more tea and most importantly our lunchtime chips from the local fish shop. Lovely.
2pm came round and we saddled up and convoyed our Multiplas to the seaside town of Deal, about a six mile run, where we passed another shocked but terribly excited Multi, with much hooting and waving! Great fun. After doing a very amusing lap of a very full main car park, we eventually parked up and about twenty adults, ten kids and four dogs all made there way to the prom and strolled straight up the pier. We sang Happy Birthday to Nadia, who celebrated her fourth birthday that day and we ate her splendid cake on the end of the pier before the lure of an hour on the beach and an ice cream was too much to stand. We spent a splendid hour sitting on the shingle, dribbling ice cream down our tops and watching the kids having a whale of a time.
Time moved on and at about 4.30 some made their way off as they chose and farewells were said, while the seven left convoyed back to Sandwich for a final brew and to reflect on the day. Mostly strangers drawn together by only one thing in common, our Multiplas.
A great day was had by all, some having camped for the weekend, some travelled three hours to be with us for the day and one family even using it as the start of their weeks holiday.
Happy story? Yes indeed. And watch this space for A Sandwich Short Of A Picnic 2010 - The Weekender!
