There is a gauze on the SPI Uno's in tank electric pump to stop crud being sucked in, blocking the pump and lines :D

I'd a thought any water will live on the bottom of the tank, as it's denser than petrol so would be sucked out first, not last. maybe that's why there is a part of the tank that the pump cant empty to trap the water.

So you should be OK in less the tank is really cruded up. the inside of my 999cc tank was spotless when I removed it.

Our 1.2 16V Brava (superfire) has no other filter than this gauze ;). Was funny when I returned the filter to the shop cos there isn’t one fitted.

Just fueled up to the brim- I clicked until it clicked no more.

Total in = 31.69 litres = total used last week.

Milage done = 352.2 miles.

Now, on with the maths:
31.69 litres used / 4.54609 litres in a gallon = 6.97 gallons used.
352.2 miles driven / 6.97 gallons used = 50.53 MPG.

I think that's not bad :)

NOT BAD! I am jealous.:) Wish I could do that, the best I ever had out of my 1300 70s was high 37mpg.

...thought i'd just add my MPG from my first ever fill up ! Filled it to a full tank and got 290 miles out of it (wasn't driving with my fuel saving foot on). That's about 42 MPG i believe.

Not as accurate as Ucof's but gives a good idea on how efficient these little engines are !

Yeah not bad. Next tank i'm going for it though....your 50.5 MPG better watch out ;-)

...on the subject of economical driving, i took it on the motorway for the first time today, got it up to 94mph. The cabin ain't a nice place to be at that kind of speed.

Yeah, it's fairly scary, they are not good cars for going fast in.
Was that on a flat, or downhill?

I've somehow managed 106mph going down a big hill (motorway) at 6am. That was scary :D

I found that it was more the noise than anything that was the problem...
and not having much confidence in my tyres too...

A long slightly downhill slope on the M5 North...was just before rush hour as well so traffic wasn't light, i reckon that's what made it even more scary haha.

Noise is definitely the problem...road noise was especially terrible...no doubt worse when running on the standard biscuit tyres like i am ! The engine was still smooth and relatively calm at what i think was about 4500/5000 RPM gear 5 of course. Could of done 100 but ran out of room when a lorry joined and everyone moved over a lane to let him in, it was a good test of the brakes and luckily they performed well !

The car definitely runs and feels just overall better now it's had that blast...gotta reach the big 100 next time !

106? Is that all?

;)

lol fiat top speed figures are always way out haha. Been off the clock in mine many times 6200 rpm 5th gear on m6 mind you. Thats 70sx ie power for you lol:slayer:

Working that out at 19.5 mph/1000rpm i think with that right? at 6200rpm means speed of 120.9mph

Stuck speedo needles don't count. :p

Mr_Uno - I'm back on biscuits tyres for the purposes of economy :( (well, that, and the fact my insurance was technically invalid :( )

Lee - I use my Satnav for speedo readings ;)

sorry if this came out twice but seems to have been lost first time!!
2 45s's and 2 turbos..55 mpg for small ones and 40 plus for the turbos..like Alex says smooth driving is the answer..big wheels and tyres for all, gears them up, like an overdrive and steady throttle and no braking! I put 185x70's on the small ones and now with browns gas addition, should get 60 plus and I don't hang about..70 to 80 everywhere..check out water4gas on internet...will fit the kit to the turbos also and expect 50 mpg and thats doing 80's and 90"s.....keep the engine in good nick and always check plugs and contacts for buildup...thats it

biggaitch - is that MPH or KmPh? Also, that water2fuel link looks interesting, though I wonder, if this was possible, why do more people not use it and why do we not already know about it?

It isnt chepa though is it?

the technology has been kept down by the oil companies for 70 years and you can check out latest stuff by looking up water4gas and check new sports car running on 40% browns gas.........water really
