There is a gauze on the SPI Uno's in tank electric pump to stop crud being sucked in, blocking the pump and lines 
I'd a thought any water will live on the bottom of the tank, as it's denser than petrol so would be sucked out first, not last. maybe that's why there is a part of the tank that the pump cant empty to trap the water.
So you should be OK in less the tank is really cruded up. the inside of my 999cc tank was spotless when I removed it.
Our 1.2 16V Brava (superfire) has no other filter than this gauze
. Was funny when I returned the filter to the shop cos there isn’t one fitted.
