i think you should start a new thread.the hottest gps around on the forum. punto chris, foxy, beany and else.let us know who's car here can leave the abarth behind!!

anyway. you have turned your car in ''nusty'' runner.any other mods you're going to do?

Is the M-Jet remapped faster than the T-Jet remapped, I know there is about 25bhp difference, but I also know the M-Jet is about 100kg heavier.

beany how many miles has yours got on it? Ffoxy is more ran in at 33k, the mjet units arent properly ran in till even more after that...

but as for bullet proof, a mate blew the bottom end in his stilo mjet 120hp!

But i do also think it comes down to driving style aswel...

funny you should say about that GP having 124hp and blowing, im sure Si only had 127hp wounder what his reasons were in more detail?

The only chance an Mjet would have against a Abarth would be on a motorway....and I don't think people buy Abarth's to rag em on motorways either...lol....definately a B road buggy!

I'd be very tempted besides the price...ott when you can get a Clio 197 cup for £12.5k new.

Think it's the French racer for me next.... :)

Actually it made 125.9bhp standard  lol

My reasons for removal were very simple, I was planning on selling the GP this month to buy a Fiesta ST (indecisiveness and financial worries at the moment have left me reconsidering if a 'hot hatch' is the way to go). I figured it would be easier to sell the car standard rather than mapped (increase the target market, etc).

I put over 8k miles on the car while it was mapped and it never missed a beat (apart from a couple of "Excessive radiator temperature" warnings. I've done a further 1k miles since the map was removed and it's running the same (all be it slower and returning slightly less miles). Touch wood, it's been and will hopefully remain to be a superb motor :D

Looks like I'm going to be keeping it for a little while longer, but god I miss the torque delivery (power is a by-product but the effortless torque made it so easy to drive).

I just cant live without a petrol, I am a real petrol nut at heart and if that means losing some econemy in return for my enjoyment then that's where I would rather place my (reasonably) hard earned money.

Out of all the cars I've owned, I really miss the Punto GT. I want something that has that same raw enthusiasm but will sensible fuel econemy and reliability (I cant bring myself to do another engine rebuild on a GT again, it was a real PITA). Panda 100HP looks like a possible option to cure my itch.

Forgot to mention that mine was mapped mid way between service intervals which could have had something to do with the slightly lower than standard results (would be interested to get it RR'd again after another service to see what it makes).

Also mine was originally a track car, oops I mean Fiat Demo car so probably didnt have the easiest of starts in life.

Nah thats all im going to do to it, maybe lower it slightly. Dunno which would be faster because i havent driven both all i can say is that mine now is just insanely fast. it goes from 50-100 in like the blink of an eye. Think i might need a brake upgrade!!

MPG, i sat with the cruise at 70mph both down south and back up north
Down there the computer told me 50.7mpg and i got 389miles from full to the light coming on. (all motorway miles)
On the way back i got 58.7mpg!!! and i got 390miles from full to the light coming on again but....this time there was 20miles of the centre of london driving so there is defo a big improvment in mpg!!

I hate to be a pedantic S.O.A.B but 390miles to a 'full' tank is no where near 58mpg.

The GP's Tank is 47litres (if I remember right). So say you used 44 litres:-

390miles to 44 litres is 39.26mpg and at current diesel prices that equals to £0.13 a mile.

Unless you still had 1/4 - 1/2 a tank left I think that pretty poor economy IMO.

Way to burst his bubble haha (y)

How much did the remap cost you Beany? Keep us updated about your MPG!

You are not pedantic enough.:p According to my calculations you are slightly off.

Using 44 litres (1 Imperial gallon = 4.54609188 liters) for 390 miles is 40.294(9053) miles per gallon.

But I can see your point.;)

:p I'm not bothered really what I would or could leave behind, its a shame its my GP came out so well after Peters "fettling" and not one of the Street Grand Prix brigades but hey....

I might consider swapping for a lower mileage un-mapped 130 MJet so I can start all over again the trip has been fun! (y)

Come on dont lie, you dont hate to be pedantic!! lol

When I say full, it wasnt brimmed, just till the click of the pump which when you get back in the car is only about 5/6ths full, also thats only to the red light, there are a good 50miles left when the red light is on.

So...you can redo your calculations please:)

No because Im not working off exact figures it would be guess work.

I think from reading earlier threads you take a few mpg of the computers mpg to get real world mpg. and if its been remapped take a couple more off. would mean im getting 54ish mpg on the motorway.

Dont fret Beany... reality is however you drive your economy wont be worse than pre-map but your performance is better, thats what pisses the petrolheads off IMO :D

Hang on if you perform the same tuning on petrol engines you get the same effect. More performance when booting it and more economy when being 'economical'.

My average has gone up from 39-40mpg combined to 44.4ish.
