Sky channels returning to Vigin Media

I remember you quoting from the Dad book on this subject before, its touching that you still have such faith in your Dad.

It may upset you to know but even Dads dont know everything.

He knows especially little about this subject whereas I do know....

I am talking about Switch exchanges, built and ready to use not a wall switch here you know... I do realise BT Wholesale is rather limited technology wise but your expression about the dirth of his knowledge is truly depressing and should be a concern his employers may wish to explore on his next 1-to-1.

ill tell him to quit his job tomorrow then because i met a person who owns a GP on a forum who knows more about his job than him(y)

Owning a GPS (now get it right) is not my job. :D

ahhh, that V+ box is going to get a major workout over xmas:slayer:

btw, haven't got round to it yet, but how easy is it to download from the box to a laptop?

Officially cant be done Jai. Protocols dont match up. There may be a Geek somewhere who's worked it out though, there usually is when something "cant be done".

i'm sure my box can with instructions on how to connect to a dvd recorder or lappy to transfer stuff.....

DVD is no problem, bu**er that it has to be archived "realtime" tho...

Let me know how you get on with the lappy... (y)

not that hard.

could use an mp4 player to record the video then upload to PC and do what you want with it.

although with todays internet resources i would be suprised if you cant already find a programme available on the internet (providing you dont mind downloading and the program will have to be mainstream)

I dont doubt a geek can do it, its not that easy officially. Output would be in HDMI or conventional video from the Scart but I think Jai want Hi - Def VoD assets and there HDCP employed.

looking on cable forum, it's all scart to scart into a dvd recorder, or scart to usb, tv card into a lappy, but apparantly can be heavy on the hard drives, thats the downside to the v box, 2 recorders, 80 hour capacity, and sometime you want to record stuff across a few channels, like csi

Should be fine if you dont want Hi-Def copies from VoD Jai.

it's just sometimes the work stop me watching, and the shows back up on the internal drive, and i end up culling what i havent seen, 80 hours gets filled pretty quick, more so when i start adding in simpsons, 24, and god knows what else sky one are carrying these days...

I shouldnt advocate it but its fairly easy to exchange the Hard Drive for more capacity, I'm sure you have seen the details on Digitalspy.
