Point being it works fine on this but fiat forum doesn't like my linux mint and Firefox.

Try loading Firefox onto your daughters Macbook

I don't get to see her that often due to her work hours.
Also after I clicked to post reply even on that computer although quicker with that short test I still noticed the yellow bars at top as it sent, the point is the really slow stuff is fairly recent. It can make it very hard to up load any help or replies.:(

Did you try the speed test site?

I believe this runs a test against cloudflare servers

Oh and I have orange bars at the top when I post, maybe a second or so...

I'm still on copper wires , mine is less than 10% of your figures , and I don't have your issue

(Firefox on a PC)

Download 5.13Mbps, upload 978kbps, latency 508ms, jitter 138ms :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I don't know what the answer is, but it's certainly not your internet connection
That is on copper still. BT want me to go on Fibre but it means losing my landline and I do not use a mobile.:(

You're not on your own there.

My internet is actually hanging on by a thread , I lost my landline years ago, asked them to fix it and they can't be bothered.

It's not the phone, it's not the socket (cable comes through the window right there, I get a dead line, but I still get internet

On the plus side I inherited a low cost (old peoples line just for emergencies)) when I bought the house , so the landline element costs me just £15 ..... a quarter!! they can't take it away from you , but you have to jump some hoops to get it in the 21st century I think)

My landline went down some years ago, but internet was still working, I waited ages for BT to come and check it and in the end I put a meter on the wires (only two are actually used) there should be around 50volts DC from memory and it was a lot less , on checking the wiring in the house I found a bad bit of wire that had gone green where a puppy German Shepherd in the past has chewed the wires and now many years on it was giving up, so I replaced that section and landline returned and I cancelled BT repairman.

Are you penalising users with adblockers?
Nope. Logged in users only get 2 Adsense banners. It's unregistered users that get blasted

But you also donated to remove ads anyway, so nothing should show for you even without the blocker (except the forums sponsors in the header)

Yes, I noticed that. Its repeatable, but what I can't understand is how it translates into a 10~15 second delay for a page load. Even if there is a 0.5 second delay before page request upload, why the delay before I get a page back?

What does the strip across the top of the site, with the three vertical bars signify (page loading progress bars)?

The only thing we can conclude so far is that it's a network issue with BT (or at least your provider) - as when going directly to the forum you get the delay, but when routing via a VPN you get none.

And that makes things incredibly difficult to debug.

You also get the same delay on page loading, not just submitting?

How about this site: www.thehamsterforum.com

They also route through cloudflare.

Yes, I'm sure .

..and yes, every time, every load, every submittal.
When I'm in the mood, I'll change th MTU settings, and see if it makes a difference, failing that I'll get BT to change it their end. Just need to get my ass into gear to do it.

Appreciate your support. (y)
