Me too! Also 500 server issue, the slow yellow bars, and this below.
It is very frustrating and a waste of time , even to do something small like click on "like" etc.
To be honest for me it hasn't worked properly for some time.

The thing is I never had these problems on fiatforum until I started complaining about them 🤷‍♀️ 🤭

At least I discovered my browser console which I've never had the need to find before now, it didn't tell me anything understandable though;)

Ok good news! I think I've found the issue.

The built in virus scanner "Windows Defender" runs against all processes and files when they are opened.

And when we get this swarm, it's trying to scan everything at once, that's the thing causing the high CPU.

I was just reading the documentation and it mentioned that the PHP interpreter and also the website files are automatically excluded from this scan as long as they are in the default location.

Well ours aren't, so weren't being excluded. I added the correct path and CPU instantly dropped from 98% to 12%.

So.....

We might be alright now! (Famous last words!)

Have you also tried temporarily disabling ipv6 to see if that solves things?
Can't find the option in latest version of Linux Mint, incidentally had same slow issue in previous version, but it never used to be like it.
Also although Fiat Forum access was better on my daughters nearly new Apple Mac with different service provider etc. at her house several miles away it still wasn't 100% as it used to be.

According to their help, to temp disable it (it won't survive a reboot)
Click open the terminal and copy and paste these two commands one at a time to disable the IPv6...There will be no acknowledgment from the system, it will just wait for the next command to be entered.
sudo sysctl -w net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6=1
sudo sysctl -w net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6=1
And see if the problem goes. If it does, it shows you have the same BT routing issue as gettinbetter.

Which hopefully one day will be sorted out, but sadly there's nothing I can do this end (CloudFlare don't allow disabling ipv6 anymore)

Thanks Ben, Giving it a try.Mike

You can check it's disabled by going to

And it should let you know both.
Hi Ben, I have tried it both ways and as you say after reboot goes back to ipv6 as default position.
From testing so far it does appear to make quite an improvement, although from what you say re Cloudflare and ipv6, not something that is going to be rectified anytime soon.
Bit of a pain if I have to disable at terminal each time before accessing Fiat Forum as it doesn't appear to affect other sites.:(

Ok good news - I believe I've managed to totally disable ipv6. All the warnings say don't as we'll be blocking all IPv6 only people, but I can't imagine that is many.

I'll keep an eye on the BT issue and when it's resolved, I'll turn it back on.

So @bugsymike - let me know if this has solved it!

Thanks Ben, I will keep monitoring it, so far it seems faster swapping from one post to another etc.
I did notice one time it temporarily froze, screen went black and then it recovered, but faster for sure:). Mike

Definitely faster and more stable in use, although when logging out did do the " temporarily freeze, screen went black and then it recovered" and logged off like normally should.

Great to hear. And hopefully that also helped others who didn't report it ❤️

The solution to the temporary black screen is.... Never log out 😜

In seriousness, I'm not sure what I can do about that except apologize for the issue. I always stay logged in because I need to keep alerts coming in.
