Introducing 'Ellen' an '87 Elddis Autoking 630CK with 80,401 miles behind her. At 21 this year I'm wondering if she's the oldest Ducato on the Fiat Forum? Here she is at Titchfield Abbey, Hampshire in 2005 on a mission to collect Ist Panda towed car from Ringwood Nr. Bournemouth bought on eBay after half a bottle of wine

Does this count?

OK, so it's not 'mine' but I drive it 8hrs/day, 5 days/week, 48 weeks/year
Ducato triaxle 'welfare vehicle'. (that's PC talk for tail-lift)
Seats 16 or 7 wheelchairs plus driver (or combinations).
A shade over 14k on the clock and almost through its second clutch - the 2.8 engine struggled to pull the 4500kg lump up most of the local hills.

Ha ha. That will be at Max laden weight too... not too well matched for hills then with only 300cc more than mine with a max weight of 3100kg. It's down to 2nd in the Peak District with the car on for me as it is, but she returned 22mpg on last outing to NWales with car on. My last, and smaller, motor caravan (Bedford Glendale 2.3 CF returned 18mpg and this would've been much less towing.
I presume the old biddies aren't in a hurry and glad to get there! (y)
cheers

That's 4500kg unladen, start adding passengers & the fun begins.
When I put my sheets together for last month's journeys, I calculated 23mpg. Not bad considering evry journey is local & average daily journey is between 5 & 10 miles (we generally work out our route to pick passengers up along the shortest route). Next week though. I have 9 passengers on Monday, 1 is 2 miles away then 12 miles to the next pick up, 2 miles to the next & 5 more within 100 yards then 3 miles to the next & 10 miles back to the day centre - all round country lanes as well - so not the easiest of routes, involves plenty of gearchanges as well.

UNLADEN!!! That's one working girl you got there!
That's good mpg I'd say

Yep, especially when you consider other vehicles in the fleet (Mercedes) weigh in at 3750 yet use a 3.8litre diesel engine - but I prefer the Fiat for its low floor & stability. Also, because it is a triaxle, it sails over the speed bumps whereas the twin wheels of the mercs hit every one.
Only trouble is, at 25 feet long & being front wheel drive, the lock is terrible.

Heres my 248 000 mile old van with battle scars and a FIAT 2.5 TDI motor. Doorman

Ducato Van 002.jpg

Here she is: My Fiat Ducato Maxi 2.8JTD Panel Van. Reg Feb 2004.

Unlike a lot of the motorhome owners on here, this one is used 6 days a week. She typically clocks up 2,400 miles per month of what we call severe use

Problems: Not many given the multi-drop stop/start use!

Injector wiring failed on No4 Injector.
Front Spring top mounts replaced.
Engine Mounting broke (camshaft end).
Clutch at 123,000 miles.
A slight tear in the drivers seat.
A couple of minor oil leaks.

Sorry I've had to block out the livery, wouldn't want to upset my boss!

The major plus points of this as a van are car like driving and handling experience. It's also not as commercial feeling as some other vans or soggy handling like the Sprinters etc.

Not called 'doorman' for nothing then...
That kind of scrape would be disastrous for me... no, doesn't bear thinking about...

Yep, I fit doors for my sins, schools, offices shops etc, not van doors, tho' it looks as if i will soon:).

I was turning left into the window and door factory, a sharp entrance and did that little shimmy to the right to get the back of the van round, when this white escort just shot staraight down my left hand side, when her car stopped it was fully on the footpath. Of course in her mind it was all my fault, first i wasn;t indicating, then i was turning right, i just pointed out the flashing amber lights were indicators on the left hand side, and look where your car is. I would say her car was a right-off, but my door still works properly. The only problem i have is a smell of thinners, which i haven't located yet.
