Re: SHOW OF YOUR BARCHETTA Photos wanted

My B is still crying in the rain  We never ever have snow here in Stavanger :(

Btw., did you get the exhaust yet?

Re: SHOW OF YOUR BARCHETTA Photos wanted

Bee is happy in the snow! :)

(I'm trying to ignore the fact that the flexipipe broke, and I drove 450km with her sounding like a V8. Never seen a Bee with a V8??)

:D I had the same thing twice, actually didn't sound very nice at all!! I replaced it with an after market stainless steel one, less than 1/2 the price of the FIAT downpipe and came with a 3 year warranty, oh and it also sounds much better - more, erm, Italian!!

Re: SHOW OF YOUR BARCHETTA Photos wanted

Robot: Yeah, the new rear section is mounted. And that's why the flexi broke. Just one mount on the entire rear section makes to much stress on the flexi on the bumpy snowy roads, so it collapsed. So now I have to get a new flexi and weld another mount on the rear section.

LRB: Do you remember who delivered it? Already been talking to Henk at Barchettaparts, and he has one at 200Euros. I'm also considering welding in a universal flex to speed things up. I can get the flex for 20GBP, so that would be alot cheaper.. But more job!

Hi, I bought it from onlineautomotive.com for £107.00 delivered, their contact number is 44 1604 588 588, the part number is EFFT811-OL. It weighs about 1/2 as much as the FIAT exhaust and is stainless steel so will last a bit longer, mine came with a 3 year warranty. For some reason it is not showing on the web-site so I would give them a quick call.

I considered welding a new flexi to the exhaust, when I started to look at what was involved (cutting the old pipe, the fact that the weld would have to be good as the flex is under stress, time involved), I decided for the money it was worth buying the complete pipe...........and am glad I did! :D

Oh, quick tip - when you do come to change the downpipe be prepared to have to drill the studs out of the manifold, this is a well known weakness and takes bloody ages as you need to remove the manifold to do it!! I had such a hassle with mine that I drilled them all out and replaced them with nuts/bolts in place of studs/bolts - makes it much easier if I need to get it off in the future.......... (y)

Re: SHOW OF YOUR BARCHETTA Photos wanted

I will check it out! Thanks a lot for the tip! This forum is priceless. :)

I hope soooooooo much that the swap will go easy, even though I know that ain't gonna happen. All I have here is the original jack, and some simple tools. No drill or similar. And my garage is a parking house (or a basement to be accurate..) so I don't exactly have a lot of room. Got all the tools and space I need back home at my parents' place, but that doesn't help me now. :p

Everything is possible! (y) Gotta have faith, hehe..

Hehe - I admire your faith but my advice would be to nip over to the parents 'just in case'!!

The job would only take an hour if the manifold bolts didn't rust/shear, you may be lucky but I would build contingency into your plan!! I planned to do it in one Saturday morning, finished Monday morning!! :bang:

Re: SHOW OF YOUR BARCHETTA Photos wanted

Happy with the exhaust, or is it too noisy for you?

I'm not quite sure yet. It is very loud between 2500-3500rpm - seems like I get some sort of resonance. Not unlikely because of the hardtop. Could also have been some leakage from the flexipipe (even though I think it was airtight until it broke completely). Looking forward to the spring when the hardtop comes off so I can listen to it the way it's supposed to: roof down. Do you get a very deep rumble from 2500 to 3500? Apart from in that range I think it's a bit too quiet.. ;) When I get her past 4000rpm want to hear her growl like an feisty italian should. :D Now she's pretty quiet.

Get a Green Filter induction kit, from 3500 mine makes a fantastic sound - and apart from the downpipe my exhaust is still a standard FIAT one!! - I must record it and put a soundbyte up!!

That would be great! I'm gonna go for a little spin tomorrow and get an mp3 of my V8 Bee. :D Sounds loco!!

Re: SHOW OF YOUR BARCHETTA Photos wanted

It did take me a few weeks to have the sound settle - and maybe a few weeks to get used to the sound compared to a stock exhaust :) It is quite deep sounding at lower revs - but once I rev it (I also have a K&N filter or something) it purrrrrrrs. Luvverly (y) I went to pick up my brother a few months ago and he could hear me probably 2-3kms off overtaking everybody (mostly red Bs :D). He complimented me on how great it sounded :)

He complimented me on how great it sounded but was not too sure about the mods I had made to the body

:ROFLMAO:

Re: SHOW OF YOUR BARCHETTA Photos wanted

Is that your girlfriend in the passenger seat? She looks like a b*tch :D

Re: SHOW OF YOUR BARCHETTA Photos wanted

Thats my dog and he don't play well with others:D
I don't have a hard top no. I made those boxes over night before a trip to Dublin, wanted them down behind the seats but still too big even without a grill. They are in where the soft top folds into but they are wired to plug and play. Ive added in along the wire new spade connectors so they ca be easily disconnected and put in the boot if i want to put the roof down, very simple and works a treat
