should i leave it or remove it?

Never understood the concept TBH. Its almost as though your embarised to drive a Fiat, and yet again its another thing that the insurance company will need to be told about.

why would you need to tell insurance?

Alot of cars loose them or they get nicked, personally i wouldnt worry but thats me
With a soon to be Pun o lol

ziggy

depends on your reasons, if you want clean lines then lose the badges and the bump strips
but then you have to consider colour coding the door handles and black number trims, etc as an easy basic mod on your car I would, but you might see a difference in the colour.

not really worth it on a mk2b because of the fiat badge in the middle of the boot lid

don't blame you for not removing the bump strips i did i once on a car and it ended up looking like someone had attacked the doors with a hammer repeatedly after a few months of people banging doors into it in car parks

im 50/50 about the badges is because the lexus lights are chromeish and the punto badge is chrome so they kinda match:)

the blue fiat badge came off when i was using a jet wash so i removed the remaining glue and polished the boot lid alittle and it looks alot better.

i remember at work ther was a black corsa sri and the door strips have been removed and the edge of the door started to rust

All I can think of looking at your number plate is 'Liver Function Tests'

has nothing to do with this thread or any other just a reflection of my boring life and how these little things amuse me lol

(I work in a medical field these days)

Is not a modification that gonna affect any insurance...cmon lets not be silly if we think this way even putting an air freshner or a steering cover is a modification to tell insurance?????!!!!!!!

If its different to how it came out of the factory then it's a modification! As mentioned most insurance companies will be fine with it but it does need to be disclosed!

Air fresher is a consumable so that wouldn't count, however steering wheel cover should be mentioned ideally as it could in itself cause an accident if incorrectly fitted.

I strugle to beleive that taking badges off has to be declared to insurance, yes a steering cover can be cause of an accident and so does an air freshener if not installed properly...
Gonna phone my insurance now as i have a sticker on my back window...

At the end of the day it's a cosmetic modification done to make the car (to some eyes) more desirable.
The fact that you're willing to remove the badges hints that you're likely to be willing to make other modifications too, such as performance modifications.
That makes it more desirable to your local joyrider to pinch for a lift home, hence higher insurance risk. :)

i rekon leave them on Ziggy's right it does break up the colour, people have said for me to remove my rub strips but no way id just be paranoid leaving the car anywhere...

I dont agred with that at all from personal experience...i took the badges of my multipla because 1) they looked tatty as car gets old
2) they were already coming off as some were broken
I debadged car i did not put a 2.0 turbo engine in it! I invite everybody to phone each insurance and ask if you have to declare that car has no badge...they will just laugh at you!

some cars come with and some without badges (was a favourite of fleet buyers to delete the badges to give favoured employees nicer cars, and minimise hassle) if a badge falls off you've not modified it, its fallen off.

its just a bit of trim which on many cars is par for the course, you are likely to have problems if you add something to a car but not taking away. standard parts are standard parts I woundn't bother to tell the insurance about changing the brake discs but i might phone-em and mention if i put alloys on, fiat standard alloys with locking wheel nuts shouldn't cost any more on the insurance, after market wheels are a different matter and will most probably cost you more.
seriously I do not believe removing a badge or two in this case is going to be of any concern what so ever to most insurance companies, personally I wouldn't bother, however because everyone is so scare of litigation these days it seems almost obligatory to tell someone doing anything, to inform their insurance company.

the best idea is to read your policy document and that will generally cover everything you do or do not have to tell the company about, anything else its worth giving them a ring.

lets stop arguing about whether or not you need to inform your insurance co in every single thread and try and stick to the topic

No joy rider will think 'ooooh no badges that must me a fast car' its just not realistic there are already numerous mods on the OP's car to not warrant a removed badge making any difference to a would be car thief.

that said, always tell your insurance co kids mainly because i wouldn't want to be sued(y)
