Why 4? Who drives them?
I have a TA 4x4, My wife has a 1.2 Loung and I have now got both daughters driving Pandas 1.2 Easys too. Its easier to have forur the same, common tools, and easier to have parts on the shelf. Once you have done one, each job is easier, although Im approaching just paying up for the cars, I dont like paying big money for simple stuff like brakes, servicing. 3 will fit in the garage too. All the cars are / were new or quite new when bough and the ones that live with me are in fairly good order and I know them well.
MES paid for its self with my Bravo and with 4 Pandas its another no brainer and worth every penny. I just wish you could still buy new Pandas. They really do seem to be all the car you ever need for doing whatever you like with them (unquote) We have had now a total of around 300,000 miles of Pandas with nearly no issue, and othing yet that has made me feel bad. I think thats pretty good and a great reason to have a clutch!
I have had around 100 cars over the years and driven a great many more types too. I really do think the Panda is one of the nicest to drive overall. OK a Bentley would be nice but the running costs are insane for a normal human being, so much as I get waves of temptation, Ill stick to the Panda for now. LOL
My experience with Fiat started with an Uno over 40 years ago, and then a gap of many years. I find the reliability is as good or better than any other brand I have owned. Ive had two Fiats do over 100,000 miles without breakdowns or any significant repairs. No other brand has managed this. Although the paint and trim is ridiculously cheap in some areas its all stood the test of time too. One daughter lives 175 miles away and the TA dismisses this journey with ease. Insurance , tax and economy are all cheap. It all works just right for me.
I am besotted with the 4x4 its just way better in every way than I expected. I prefer it to my brothers Range Rover. It stops better and rides nearly as well, uses less petrol and is as fast or faster on any non motorway road. On narrow roads I love leaving him behind LOL and thats without the cost and convenience advantages of not being huge.
Going through a radar trap at speed and breaking out in a cold sweat, then to realise I was just at the speed limit not doing 100+ still brings a good feeling as well.
My biggest motoring regrets are selling the Panda 100 which was psooibly the best one available in its overall condition and the Bravo. They both needed gearbox overhauls which was a black amrk and ended in me parting company but afer 100K in both no bad feelings. I just wish I still ahd them both. One a work of genius and the other the MOST underrated car ever sold in the UK I think.
