That would be theft then, best call the rozzers... Surely the car was held in trust for you and if that trust has been broken then basically it's been nicked with the connivance of those holding it.

You guys aren't having a lot of luck at the moment... :(

It'll get better... All the best, Luke. (y)

Glad I'm not the only one who said this. Their responce to dad today, well it was costing us to store it at the place it was recovered to.

Didn't even ask us for our view! Would have had it plonked on the drive if they were going to move it!

They're going to be getting a bigger bill when its transported back to our driveway in Lowestoft!

Going to be calling them in the Morning suggesting that it's on our drive in 48 hours or legal action will be taken, and my god for their benefit the car better not have been tampered with!

As you say, still legally our car! Rate things are going we're going to refuse their write off price and keep the car and take them to court to recover ALL costs!

Things could get very nasty, and dad knows lots of different people!!!

not sure if my mate has an account with that one, i will ask. but it probably a cat A if its already there Crush only. if its a cat A you will never be allowed it back on your drive, that is the reason for a cat A to stop people buying them back an using half the cars to make a good one, messes it up for everyone that wont do that, but it does stop more cut n shuts being on the road

Right had a very good day insurance wise (is there such a thing :p)

Firstly, had a call this morning confirming that the Tigra's driver's insurance company has admitted full liability.

Secondly, after a phone call with a lady we've had it confirmed that we'll be getting the car back to remove all we want from :) (althought I'm sure they might still try and get around this, but we'll see)

Wasn't without a struggle though, and even I had to get on the phone and speak to the accessors PA. The car is currently a CAT-A

After a bit of sweet talking though I suggested that it's re-catagorised to a CAT-B, explained that there was no reasonable explination for it being CAT-A rather than B and that bluntly at the end of the day we're happy waiting until the 2012 olympics unit they release the car to us with a cheque after all the paper work has all been signed. As they can't legally touch or distroy the car until we've granted permisson, and signed relevent paper work.

Her main concern was why we wanted it back, and when I explained we have a few Panda's (of which I suggested she checked the MID if she wanted to) and wanted it for spares she was happy with that. Obviously her concern was us trying to put it back on the road.

So I'm now going around with a grin on my face, knowing that at the age of 19 I've beaten an insurance companies bullying tactics

Did make me laugh though when she tried explaining why it was CAT-A;

'The accessor would have catagorised it as a CAT-A as he would have deemed there to be no parts salvageable from the vehicle'

'Why's he come to that conclusion then?'

'We'll from what I'm aware the emergency services had to cut away parts of the car to gain access to the people in it'

'Correct, so that would brand it CAT-B then, not A, as there is still plenty salvageable and re-useable from the vehicle, like the engine, gearbox, new exhaust system etc'

'Oh ................. I'll advise the accessor that he'll be needing to re-catagorise it then'

'Why thank you. I think that would be a very sensible idea!'

Well done MEP. There seems to be a common agreement by ALL companies in this country for giving their customers (you know, the people who pay them large sums of money for the shoddy services they provide and keep them in business) VERY POOR to NON EXISTENT service. My wife is currently locking horns with Budget Insurance to try to get her no claims bonus re-instated after a fraudulent insurance claim was made against her. They hadn't even told her there was a claim against her or gave her a chance to respond, they just paid out without any investigation at all. We only know this now as the renewal has come due and she was wondering where her no claims discount went. Useless retards. Needless to say, we'll be renewing elsewhere.

Hope she's sucessful in sorting it out Rick.

It really annoys me how insurance companies think they can walk all over you. Most of the time they know they can get around it because they know you need then legally.

But they don't all bank on dealing with an awkward teen who knows what he's talking about. The phrase 'don't bull **** a bull ****ter' spring to mind alot yesterday :p

Never bull **** someone who wants to become a crash test researcher, of work in the field of insurance damage acessing :)

Hopefully we'll get the right result. Mrs. Rick used to work as an insurance claims assessor and is fully clued up on all the FSA rules and regulations that Budget have seemingly ignored. Unfortunately it's left us in the position of having to renew with zero no claims. We'll be pushing for compensation as well as reinstatement of the no claims bonus.

Rick really sorry to hear about your troubles. I have to admit I have been luck so far but have heard some real horror stories. That one I have to admit is a new one on me!! They are going to lose a lot out of this so someone really dropped the ball there.

I hope you get it all sorted ok though, sounds like your Mrs' will know exactly what to say and will get it all sorted quickly. Best of luck!

And the saga goes on. Dad spoke to the insurance company of the first accident (side and door damage about 7 weeks ago now).

They'd only closed the file, believing the car had been crushed to could be accessed.

They're not getting out of paying out money that easily

Dad suggested that they don't need to view the vehicle to give a payout, but if they insist they can view it in our drive when returned.

He mentioned to them that the first collision has resulted in a lower payout for the second, and that they will be paying out :p

Oh dear, sorry to hear about the tragedy. People like the woman in her Tigra ought to have their eyes tested!
Glad the insurers are allowing it to be put on your driveway, though... Hope they can return it sooner, rather than later.

Otherwise I'd just drive down to the scrap yard where it's currently located and, seeing as it's still rightfully your dads vehicle, demand to the groundsmen that you'll be stripping it for spare parts on the spot - surely they can't stop you, as you haven't specified you wanted it crushed... :-s

Easier said than done. Car is in secure compound at the mo, which even we can't gain access to.

And car's in Essex, so not going down there, car can come to us :p

Plus, you've never seen a Panda once I've stripped it! Will be nothing left, and would take quite a few journeys to Essex and back to get all the bits :)

Suppose you could hire a van, but that's un-necessary costs. Just hope you can salvage the wreckage to strip it before they go and add insult to injury!

Just though I'd do a bit of an update on the whole saga.

Well, almost 2 months after the awful event, and lots of coms to insurance companys etc, the poor old girl is being returned to us first thing on Monday morning.

We've yet to recieve a penny for the old girl, but thats due to stubborness on my part and trying to maximise payout.

But I'm now pleased that our persistance to get her returned has paid off and she's coming back to us even though she's still a CAT A write off.

Jon.

Well finally its been put to sleep. The old girl was returned and been half stripped so far, and the grand total of payout between the two insurance companies.........

Wait for it...............

£1400! :D

£850 and £550 respectivly. Much better than the £200 and £450 respectivly offered! :)

Just shows, hang it out and argue and prove what it's worth, and they will pay it. (y)

The only kick in the teeth so far about the whole incident was a letter from the Police saying that the woman in the Tigra will not be persued for careless driving, and will not get any points. Instead she just has to do a drivers improvement course. Makes by blood boil.
