Probably better to keep them in ignorance then. The whole point, of course, is once they've said that then they pick up the tab for resetting it and not you (assuming you've already agreed the service cost)Deckchair5 said:Confusions happen because a lot of cars have a SERVICE or CHECK ENGINE warning light which triggers when a fault is recorded and is easy to extinguish using readily available diagnostic software which is why you often get the "Yes we can put out your sevice light sir"
I can't speak for them all but I'm genuinely impressed with the bunch next to me (literally only 3 minute walk away too).PNL said:I dont believe you went to that bunch of cowboys Argo to have your car serviced Phil's getting you some spanners for Christmas

theres the link but it dosent say anything about it working now does it yellowstilo? have you tried this?
NumanR said:Actually the service info is stored in the instrument cluster, this has to accessed using examiner. When you change the cluster the old data needs to be drawn from the old cluster and programmed into the new one. The mileage is also stored in the engine ecu, but this is just for eobd diagnosis, and police enforcement.

Have you got a code to activate the alarm feature of the body computer (if it was disabled during manufacture)
Thanks for that - you obviously know your stuffyellowstilo said:The body computer is programmed at the factory and without the proper hard- and software you can't change the original configuration.
There are some Local Identifiers that could be changed but the bodycomputer will verify this change with it's original configuration and send a negative response if the two settings don't match.
Another problem is the lock on the bodycomputer - you need a pin-code to unlock it (could be the same code as the one on your code card for emergency start procedure ??) I didn't try this yet.
if you want to play around with your bodycomputer (at your own risk !!) you would need the same hard- and software as for service reset.
