Hi All,

during a drive Seicento 1.1 2005 suddenly lost almost all of the oil(which is now all over the underside of the car)
there was no loud noise or any indication beforehand that this was going to happen.
Engine did not loose power or started to sound bad.
I cannot find anything snapped or broken except the seal on the oil tank ( just little bit of the outside seal is torn off)

has anybody experienced something similar?

thank you

The Younger Mrs' S's friend with a 500 had her sump replaced. She drove home about 30 miles and the oil light came on... oil all over the floor and under the car.. the garage had not fitted the sealant bead properly all around the sump.

Your symptoms sound the same.. failed sump gasket (or potentially a rusted/leaking sump pan or loose drain bolt etc.).. but you'll have to clean up all the oil to see where it's coming from.

Another scenario is that the crank seal has failed. Oil would be escaping just from the end of the engine (on the right hand side of the car), just above the sump.

Or the gearbox input shaft seal has failed, so the engine oil is escaping into the clutch housing. This failure would see oil getting onto the flywheel .. so you would notice the clutch was acting strangely. The oil would be coming out from the join between the clutch housing and the engine block.
