There is a warning light on the dashboard which flashes an engine symbol on and off, this symbolises the cat is damaged, if you take the cat off, you will have this warning light flashing at you all the time!
The car would run fine as it is only cuts down on exhaust emissions but you would be breaking the law as the law states you have to have a catlytic converter fitted to your car, why do you wanna take it off?????

well see I am from Czech Republic and there is no problems to get MOT. You just have to know who to bribe. So I dont see problems in this. I will probably feel little bad for nature but I think I can live with that.

I see i thort u was based in the UK where it is required by law to have a cat converter on your ok, i dont know the czech republic take on things, but i dont see any major problems, youll just kill everyone!!

well the next thing is how easy/hard is to decat my pocket rocket ??
I have a chip that put some extra power plus I have got spark plugs+KaN filter + exhaust and I think this should be cheap way to get some extra power. So any advise how to get rid of it ?

Erm......no it doesnt actually. The CAT is a solid block of chemicals that filters the exhaust gases to make them less toxic.. It has no electrical connections whatsoever. Strictly speaking the only thing that would tell you if the CAT is damaged is an emissions test, but a dodgy lambda sensor signal might have a bearing on it.
The ECU senses electronic sensor failure, and cant tell if the cat is actually dead...
As for removing it, if its legal...do it! Its an impedance to flow, so removing it can help the exhaust flow better

Go to a good exhaust place, get them to make up a decat pipe..If the lambda sensor is in the same pipe as the cat, make sure the replacement pipe has a hole in it for the lambda sensor....

Do the MPi Seis have two lambda sensors? One before and one after the cat? If they do this may confuse things.
I have a 2001 mpi sei and I have done the whole de-catting thing! I would highly recommend it for a great sound and extra power. The problem with the mpi sei's aka ones made after 10/2000 is that the cat converter is not under the car as on the earlier single point cars its in the exhaust manifold if you remove the manifold heat shield (which can be difficult) you can see this, so basically to de-cat you have to buy a sports manifold I have the supersprint 4-2-1 which is to my knowlege the only one which will fit and the best!!
The next problem is the lambda sensors my ecu warning light is permanently on (have thought of disconnecting the bulb but thought better!! Basically the mpi has a lambda sensor before and after the cat, you have to leave the one which goes in before the cat connected and put it in your new manifold (although the lambda sensor point needs moving on the supersprint as it was designed for an spi car (have I lost you yet!!) Had to have this done specially alternatively i hear there is a lambda extension available from janspeed (or so i am told). You disconnect the lamba after the original fiat cat altogether. This is the set up i have a hell of a lot of work but well worth it the car just pulls so much more now more torque especially.

Whatever you do when removing the cat do not connect the second Lambda sensor. Alternatively you can get a sports cat that is not as difficult to get as you might think. Pm me if you want one.
In case the sports cat is used connect the second Lambda sensor after the cat. The MPI would even run much better with the SPI cat (although not as well as with sports cat) and the second Lambda sensor connected after the cat.

Having no cat is not illegal. The law in Britain requires to fulfill the exhaust emissions requirements and not to have a cat.

Been thinking right, and if the cat was taken off, then the vehicle wouldnt pass an emissions test, which would make it an MOT failure? Right? Wrong?

This does not mean that you pass emission tests! This is unfortunately a hurdle that most of the engines pass only with a cat.
