Technical Securing handbrake cable

My Offside handbrake cable keeps breaking free of the trailing arm.

I've tried various things like hose length, nylon wrap and cable tied it to the arm, but the tie slowly eats through everything.

Short of welding a new hook onto the arm (the old one having rusted away) does anyone have a tried and trusted solution?

If you have welder to hand - yea get a new hook put on

If you dont have a welder to hand - a Hook secured with a hose clamp would work just as good!

Why does it keep pulling away? Is it no longer as flexible as it should be?

Handbrake on, cable under tension, forms to a certain shape. Off, no tension, relaxes. This motion has to be constrained somehow. I've been using cable ties, but these wear out, they seem to chafe and split. If I don't tie it to the arm, it rubs on the inside of the tyre.

Fairly new cable (<2 years).

One of Ziggy's solutions should work fine. If you can find or fabricate the hook and clean up the area it needs welding to to bright metal, and if access is reasonable, any fool should be able to MIG it on for beer money.
