The remote central locking/unlocking on my 54 (2004) Scudo has stopped working. It was getting a bit intermittent, now nothing. Took the key's battery out and tested on a multi meter and it seemed OK at 3 volts.

I had the battery out of the key for a few mins, and since read that this can cause problems? Have I done anything wrong?

I have the security code and spare (non-remote) key. Any advice appreciated.

The key is the type with 2 buttons on the side and blade that folds out, similar to in the links -

Check first if the 2 micro switches are on the circuit board behind the 2 buttons, these have a habit of coming off and being lost when you take the fob apart...I cannot seem to find replacement micro switches like this anywhere. If all is good the next thing you need is a new battery...your may read 3v on the meter but when under load it might drop dramatically...if still giving problems...scratchy head time mate!:D

Thanks for your reply.

I did wonder about the battery. I've had the van 6 years and never changed it. I will try a new one.

As I had the battery out of the key for a few mins, is it likely to affect any codes, etc that are stored in the key? It still starts the engine if this means anything.

Other than that, I suppose I will have to do without the remote. Probably not worth spending big money on a van that's almost 10 years old.

Think you will find this circuit board has nothing to do with security code for starting. The one for that is mounted in the end of the key blade.

Just put a new battery in the remote. No joy. Either having the old battery out of the key for a few mins caused the code to be lost, or the key or receiver are faulty.

Not sure what to do now.

Did you check if the 2 micro switches (under the two fob bouutons) are firmly soldered to the circuit board...if these are OK then its squeaky bum time;)
