Off Topic Scamming the scammers

I think if these is one example that best sums up how funny and half-arsed this scam is, it is the early part of this page from their website which you get to when you click on "Read how to protect yourself from fraud here":

http://www.mobile-24euro.com/tofficer.htm

It says:
- Eumobile-GmbHEuropa is contained in Division 6 of the European Chamber of E-Commerce East Lancashire Code, commencing with Section 17000. The regulations are contained in Subchapter 9, Title 10 of the European Code of Regulations commencing .

Since when did East Lancashire have its own civil code? And why did they mention it here? And it must be a gurt big document if this part of it starts at Section 17,000. I love it.

(I used real swear words in my email - apologies to the mods for sort of spelling them out here and breaking the rules a little but I thought people might want to see the exact words I chose.)

I doubt that anyone on here has an issue with such language :) We're all adults, it's completely warranted and it isn't directed at anyone on here (y)

What about Ahmett, Panda and Legacy???? Think of the children, Maxi!

I did something quite similar when selling my son's car a few years ago. I was contacted by many interested prospective purchasers, all from abroad, including a 'member of the cloth' from the Netherlands. My son's car was for sale for about £2000.
Prospective buyer wanted to send me a cheque for £5000 but for some reason, that I cannot remember and was linked to the scam, he wanted me to send him the difference via Western Union. He would then arrrange to have the car collected from me.
So he would send me a cheque for 5 grand and wanted me to send him back 3 grand via Western Union.
Pretty obvious this was a **** taking scam but just like Robin I wanted to expose the tosser. I led him along and got him to send me the cheque to my work address.
I eventually sent him a link to a Police website that was very aware of his dodgy dealings.
Scary thing, the cheque was accepted at local cheque cashing centre. Being the honest person I am, I made them aware of the circumstances.

Great story, thank you for entertainment Robin.:)
Funny that they write about copyright, their logo is too similar to mobile.de logo. Clearly more than just inspired by it.

On my Firefox browser bar I have a visual rating symbol for each site I visit. If it is a dodgy or scam type site, I get warned pretty quickly by this device.

It is called WOT. I am not sure if it came with Firefox or if I downloaded it (don't laugh! Land of poor memories here.)

I have now given the Mobile-eu site a bad rating for trustworthiness. If enough of you do the same, it might serve to save someone getting scammed.

I thought I'd have another look at the contact details for mobile-24euro.com, but when I clicked on my bookmarked link, it no longer works.

Did a search engine check and it is now http://www.eu-mobile.co.uk/tcontact.htm

What I find odd though, is that the Post Office at the registered contact address don't seem to be aware that they allegedly have a business registered using their address!

My work email won't even let me into that site it thinks the risk is so high.

So the Septic Tanks acted and had the website removed. Great to see quick action. It would be rude not to let the scammers know about that though don't you think?

Plus I also wanted to know what should have happened after my five hour warning not to "share" their website any more had expired. Ergo, this just sent:

So the five hours you gave me passed, and I did not stop "sharing" your website. I didn't notice you doing anything after five hours.

Anyway, I have stopped sharing it now.

Although, to be honest with you, this is only because one of the people I shared it with was your website's Registrar in the USA. I told them all about you. And now they have taken your website down.

Sorry about that.

Robin

PS I'm not really sorry about that.

This seems to be a bigger problem than first thought.......

In fact. Just using one phrase off the site I've found loads of them and other ones which are currently under construction.

I suspect there's a different group doing scams with a slightly different website design as well......
