Hi all iv just bought another fiat punto 1.2 8v when i bought it i new it had a oil leak and found it was coming from the rocker cover thinking it was just the gasket went to change it and found that the bolts weren't tight at all to find that some one had over tightened then and pulled the thread out of 3 of the holes i tried to just put a nut the other side but on the back the nut don't sit flush due to it being at a angle so im a lil lost what to do next :bang:

A few years back when my brother first started fixing/messing with cars he offered to do my rocker cover, which was leaking. Over tightened the bolts and cross threaded 2 of them. Probably just worth mentioning my brother is a much better mechanic now with his own business.

We found a local garage that specialised in cylinder head repairs, he helicoiled the 2 threads we ruined, my brother then tightened the cover up properly with a new gasket and its been fine ever since. Cant remember the cost but it wasn't a lot. Don't know if this is any help for the bolt that screws in on an angle though...

A new cylinder head is possibly a bit extreme.

You could try thread repair inserts (helicoil or like) if there is space.
I'm fairly sure that people have used nuts and bolts to secure the cover in the past, search the forum.

Edit: as above, you could have them welded up and retapped, or redrilled and plugged with Aluminium, and retapped. In other words, you have options.

Helicoil kits are cheap enough. It's unlikely that anyone will approach your head with a welder without wanting it pulled from the block first.

I think they're 5mm but do check.

Rocker cover bolts should be M6.
