I used to work at Halfords and honestly couldnt find any issues with the DVD Stereo. Got very hot admittedly, but worked a treat, never had to many come back.

Good for a budget buyer but i would recommend JVC anyday of the week.

Thanks All :slayer:

I got mine from halfords about 2 weekes ago now. The silver one was £20 cheaper than the black one,and which has already been said, you do get an SD card reader and aux in. So there a difference between the two.

Has anyone hooked a sub to it?

If so which model as i am looking to get one installed?

I cannot seem to find any info on subs being attached to it as on Halfords website it doesnt say how many pre-outs it has (being them gold plated or 24v) only has info on 1 AV connector so I cant say.

I would expect it to have 1 at least but I would have to look at 1.

Thankies :slayer:

yea it does have a pre out, i think its the standard two phonos and a remote, it has quite a lot of connectors on the back, quite a nightmare when fitting them

apart from looks the sd reader and aux in is the big differences so complain, you may get an upgrade :p

im not sure about the quality of the pre-out, like the most expensive dv920 flip out 7" has only one preout, which is one single phono adpater, which has to be then split by y-splitter at the amp, or it can be run off rear speaker phonos but aparently not as good sound quality

any sub will work, the only trouble ive got with these units is that the seem to magnify the need for good earth on amps, weird but true

i do that when fitting them anyway, theyre a total nightmare if you dont do that so im sure that the halfords people would of done the same if they fitted it
just try your luck, generally if theyre not a stubborn git they give in to save the possibility of a complaint

It annoys me that there isnt actually a stop button on it.

For the price i dont think you can beat it, cd-dvd-radio-sd card reader. Those same functions from a named brand would be around three times the price.

Swings and roundabouts.
theyd be more expensive but at least you know they would work,

just went in halfords to complain about it! The manager was out to lunch! Its not like i can just wait around all day i have to work 2 lol.

Anyway a guy said he will refund it but wont do anything else and thats when i wanted to complain.

IM SO ANNOYED!!!!!

you bought the old silver one right?

the reason they were so cheap was that they were that old and had problems with them, i wasnt so big on selling them

the black one is meant to be the revised model (hence we dont sell the silver one anymore) which has a few more features but fixed some of the common problems associated with the 722 model

any unit of that style with a million features lik dvd etc at v little price will cause trouble, ive seen them all, silvercrest, 4u, eon, ripspeed and all the other ebay ones available, you cant get good quality at that price

generally you get wat you pay for, unfortuantly the proper models of those units are JVC exad which are around 400 quid or so

RIPSPEED DV710

I GOT THIS ITEM BRAND NEW YESTERDAY AND SINCE FITTED ALL I HAVE HAD IS PROBLEMS!!!!

MAYBE SOMONE CAN HELP ME.

WHEN THE VANS NOT STARTED EVERYTHING WORKS PERFECT.

START THE VAN AND THE SCREEN SHAKES AND AND MOVES ACROSS LIKE A SLIDESHOW RAPIDLY.

ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS MIGHT BE. DONT THINK ITS THE EARTH AS ITS OK WHEN ITS NOT CONNECTED. AND NO DIFFERENCE WHEN IT IS APPART FROM I CAN WATCH DVD`S AS I DRIVE

MANY THANKS ASH HARLAND

yep, screen ribbon would be my guess

also im not sure wat car its into but make sure your cage is well and tight cause if its a wee bit loose it will shake a shocking amount while driving

also i wont lie to you, ive returned hundreds of those models, you can pick them up for peanuts cz theres been that many refurbished, it was their first attempt at it and it had its problems, the new 720 seems to be running a lot better though

Had the Silver ripspeed dv722 dvd a cd got stuck init took it back n they said i could have the 7" screen 1 (dv720) instead lol only thing i can complain about at the moment is, with the silver 722 dvd player there was an option in the settings to turn the parkin brake thing off so you can watch videos while driving (bit stupid to make it an option in the 1st place.) which was great. with the 7" dvd 1 there is no option in the settings AND when you unplug the wire leading to the parking brake switch it stil doesnt allow you to watch videos while driving (they've obviously become wise to there mistakes) but i was wondarin, is there a way to be able to watch videos while driving? (i know its illigal blah blah) but say i had kids and i wanted to keep them entertained whilst on a long journey they wouldnt be able to watch videos lol
hope you understand all tht =]

Done it, just taped it to abit of metal near the hand brake. Works a treat thanks!

yea that always got me about the new units, the old ones were dead handy, even the dv-710 you still had that option but the new ones i just integrate into the earth of the iso

enjoy the 720, its a fantastic unit with a suprising reliability, good swap tho (y) lol
