Hi guys,
Another problem reared it's ugly head last night, and I hope it's not a car killer :(
I was putting the car on the drive, and as I started reversing, there was a crunch, and then some grinding noises underneath somewhere when moving in reverse. I went out to take another look this morning and I couldn't replicate it, all seems fine
My initial thoughts were possibly gearbox mountings, does this seem feasible?

Could it have been something simple like the tyre rolling over something on the ground?

Another possibility is a stone or bit of gravel etc got in behind one of the disc guards.

A knackered mounting would give more of a 'clonk' than a grinding noise.

Some of the above are possible, the first thing I did was check the road, there was nothing there at all. I was quite sure that it was in gear properly as tried it twice. There is a clunking over bumps sometimes, but I put this down to the exhaust bracket being lose near the front.
Needless to say it's been perfect today

Our 07 plate been doing this for a while wondering if it's a clutch problem - be interested to see if yours keeps doing it

maybe as has been said already? To be safe I would put some molyslip in the gearbox and also check linkages for a stiff joint.
