Our makeshift wiper control unit stopped working today in the middle of the city..

Might have to go up later and put my new parts on sooner than expected.

How easy is it to replace the stalk unit? I have the unit.

We have the eLearn instructions, which we will follow.

Is there anything else when working with the airbag / steering wheel we should know?

Thank you

You mentioned previously that the BC relays are clicking. You now have bypassed the body computer (BC) but the wipers have stopped again.

The BC would not be clicking if the stalk was faulty.

The BC would not be clicking if the BC itself was faulty.

This points to the wiper motor being faulty or the wiring between motor and BC.

Hi Guys,

Not sure if you saw the latest post on the other (massive) thread, but we got it all sorted by replacing the motor and linkage assembly. Thank god!

Now I've a spare stalk unit!

IIRC it was mentioned early on that the motor was likely to be the issue.

Put lowest miles stalk on your car and eBay the other one.

It was mentioned, certainly.

But we tested the motor putting power straight to it and it seemed to work that's why we thought it was more complex this whole time

With any fault be sure to rule out the easy stuff first.

Cable connectors.

Cable continuity (resistance end to end)

Wiper motors also check the internal parking tracks and brushes.

When a wiper motor runs more slowly while it's parking you'll know its on the way out. Power bypasses the parking tracks until the wipers are turned off. Power then conducts along the parking tracks and brush contacts. High resistance here = failing motor.
